I'm surprised I haven't seen a dream discussion thread here yet. o_O If it's been done before, I haven't seen it in the past four months I've been here, so I think it's safe to start a new one. :p If there is an active one, feel free to close this one.

This thread is inspired by a dream I had last night, and contrary to what several ponies have asked, this actually is from my imagination, and no, I have not watched Fringe. :p

Well, in this dream, I remember walking out my back door and, to the east, I see a big swirling blue blob with yellow rings in the sky. It's evening and the blob is really really bright, and moving like an amoeba. I run inside and turn on the tv, and find out its a galaxy being destroyed nearby ours. So I walk outside again and watch the mass until it eventually burns out. It was just... a very interesting and somewhat fearful dream to have. :p I'm sure I did some other stuff afterward in the dream, but that's the only part I can vividly remember.

So, if you would like to, share some dreams you ponies have had! :3

i do recall this one dream that was so... no words to describe it but it was weird

in the dream i was all alone and there was virtually nothing around me just me seating down on the ground in complete darkness as if meditating when suddenly i look up to a light, it was from a mirror as i saw that i looked more like a monster then man and when i saw myself in the mirror i reached out to it only for it to suddenly shatter waking me up (spooky thing about it was that when i got up i saw that the bathroom mirror had broken cause of faulty glue)

(close enough description of what i looked like )

I have many screwed up dreams (Edit; as in dreams that I wont be sharing). I can't remember the last good dream I had, But then I don't remember many of my dreams.

One of my dreams featured a meteor storm. I remember that I was sat on my chair, and about to go to bed when I noticed it outside, and it really did look beautiful. Hundreds of them falling, and burning up. As I prepared to get up and get in bed, however, one of them came straight through the window, and landed on my bed, right where I was about to lie. There was a flash of blinding light, and then silence, I thought about what a narrow miss it was and about how lucky I was. But I was petrified, understandably, and just sat there, on my chair for a couple of seconds, staring at it. But as I stared, it released a green poisonous gas.
    TA DA!

I know there's a thread exclusively for pony dreams here:

But, as far as I know, I haven't seen a thread for non-pony dreams around, or at least one that's been active. So I'd say we should give this a go. ^^

I don't have any dreams to share at the moment that would be appropriate for this thread, but once I have something, I'll post it. My mind can and often does come up with very random things when I sleep. ;)

Oh... oh man, for some reason, I chuckled when I read that...

Anyways, same deal here. All I have are nightmares, and they tend to be gruesome.

A recent one of mine involved a neighborhood where every girl was a zombie, mostly because this guy who beat his wife to death knew voodoo and didn't want to go to jail. The zombies were all valley girls. Oddly my place in the dream was just as a visitor. While watching a DVD I saw a preview for a movie based on Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer.
Comepletely different actor than the original kind of like the Buffy movie only darker and more modern, but it was based in the 1800's when Spike, dressed as he was when he was killing that Chiinese Slayer or being messed with by the Immortal, was having a fight with Dru so he went off to kill some London railroad workers.

Railroad worker: (Lying on th ground, bleeding and staring at Spike who has a pick sticking out of his chest) Who are you?
Spike: *hefting a railroad spike* Name's William mate. But you can call me- *Slams spike at the guy's head. Image cuts off leaving the word Spike in pointy letters on th screen and a release date*

Last night I had a dream about Sam and Dean from supernatural hiding from gods (one was Loki, despite what happened in the show... or maybe the real Loki? I don't know.) and helping a kid from the future survive by somehow using a stuffed white bunny rabbit to hide their presence. My perspective kept switching between Sam and Dean.
Near the end we're hiding in a chicken coop and almost found, but a pretty topless lady came and distracted the pursuers by explaining that the chickens were used to feed her pet anacondas that she uses to dance with.

That's when I woke up and started wondering about the Loki thing...

I had a dream Agent Smith from the Matrix was chasing me, although it was in Llanrumney, the place I grew up. Then some stuff happened that I can't remember.

    Thrilling.

Last night I dreamed that I woke up and had overslept, becoming late for school, having to hurry up and feel extremely stressed. While stressing to get ready for school, I woke up from my dream in the middle of the night and thought: "Phew, it was just a dream, back to sleep.." Then I dreamed the exact same thing again. :/

I have a very weird dream that I've been having for the past month
I fall down through the ground beneath me I fall for what seems like hours in an abyss then a light flashes and an angel grabs me by my hand
I blink and am back to the surface but everything is on fire then a black tendril starts inching it's way up my arm it burns and feels like my bones are breaking
I scream and wake up with my arm tingling my heart pounding and my mind racing
this is by far the strangest dream I have ever had if for nothing more than for the fact I've had it every day for a month

In the past? Many "Oh S**t, I'm falling... oh, wait, no I'm awake." dreams.
Possibly to do with my fear of heights. :l

I tend to analyse my dreams for subliminal messages. I need to get into the habit of recording my dreams to see if any patterns occur.

There's an interesting topic, however, that I can remember, and that I would like to discuss. I have had many dreams over the years, some I can remember from when I was as young as 5 years of age. Though, there have been occasions where I have dreamt of a location, most of the time completely created from my own imagination.
Years go by after a dream where the setting is one of these made-up locations (which I have never thought about whilst awake) and I seem to return to these perfectly preserved locations in my dreams, and I experience a sort of "in-dream deja vu", which I find rather fascinating. The dream does not repeat, it's like a different "episode", if you will, in the same setting. Strange.

I love the science of the mind, dreams intrigue me.

I must ask it to you dream experts, by that I mean those who can actually manage dreams, what do you think about to create a dream?

There is a pattern I have noticed, and I have actually learned how to drift into a dream of my choice at the beginning of my sleep.
If I think up a scenario, as random or as normal as it may be, I can concentrate, yet relax while thinking about the contents of the scenario itself. This mindset makes me drift off to sleep as it takes my mind away from reality and the thought of the approaching state of sleep, and because I drift off with this pre-dream thought out, I can jump straight in and let my imagination do the rest while asleep.

It mostly works when I want a certain dream to occur, but as it is at the very beginning of a nights sleep, the dream has a tendency to change, be replaced and/or be forgotten. It's a practice, I am getting better.

Lucid dreaming is another subject similar, but that's another story. :derpe:

I keep a dream journal, I think I'll share one of my entries with y'all.

    1/14-
"Remembered multiple dreams this morning, here's what I've got:
I first dreamt about being at some sort of summer camp. There was a stone bridge I believe and also a large lake. On one side was a sort of residence(Either a trailer, or a castle), of what kind I do not remember, and on the other side was nothingness, perhaps a forest. I can recall an important need to leave the area or something and to do so I went over the bridge. I got bored while walking over though and took a detour. The next thing I remember is I'm across the lake from the residence and I was talking to somebody. The dream abruptly ends there.
The next dream was about My Little Pony, sadly it was G2. Figures that the first pony dream I would have would be one of an older generation. Anyway, I don't remember my reason for being there, but I do remember complaining to myself on a hill of some sorts wishing that I was in the G4 world. I was still a human and there were oddly shaped ponies everywhere. Suddenly something exploded in the middle of the town and when I looked over a small volcano had emerged from the ground and was smoking. I ran over to figure out what was going on when one of those Lost Soul things from DOOM flew out. The next thing I know, I'm holding a pistol and shooting at it until it dies. I'm the hero of the pony people. Another one comes out, but is no match for the craptastic pistol. This dream ended here.
The final dream I remember from last night is one that had an omnipotent perspective. I was watching a fat man dance with his wife in a sort of banquet hall when he whispered something into her ear and she stormed off. He chases after her and is lead outside to a barbecue. The guy is suddenly Tyler Perry in a fatsuit and has a grudge against Jim Carrey for whatever reason. He tries to put on a latex mask and act like a fool to make him look like an idiot, but forgot that he was wearing a fatsuit and gets caught. Jim just happens to be at the party and chases after him, but Tyler gets away and runs away to a nearby hill where he finds his wife. The dream ends there, I remember nothing more."

Bringing this thread back it's simply an awesome topic that every forum should have.

This is my favourite dream in a, "I hope I never have a dream like that again... but maybe I do?" kind of way. :derpe:

It's gets a bit dark towards the end, hopefully it's not too dark for the forum.

This was a first person dream. I was with another man the same age as me, we were together in a mostly empty concrete building with hallways and doors leading to small rooms. A special forces team or gang armed with pistols were chasing us through this building, trying to kill us, we have no choice but to run since we have nothing to fight back with. We don't know where we are but we need to escape so we go through a random door, this leads us into a small room only big enough to accommodate 6 identical doors on it's perimeter, we know the men will come bursting into this room any second to kill us. At no point is this a nightmare though, I don't remember having any feeling of fear, and I don't mean that as in bravery and courage just simply absence of fear.

We hear the footsteps and a hand grab the handle, again we choose a random door and sprint through it, then a moment of nothing. Reality suddenly snaps back and we find ourselves coming out of another door into the same room we just left, soon another door flies open and 4 of the gang of men burst in, spotting us one of them fires and misses. Again we sprint through another door as more shots are fired at us, and again we find ourselves back in the same room, this time behind the other men as they shoot at a closing door. The doors are sending us slightly back through time back into the same room, still not knowing how to escape, we now have no choice but to fight them. We keep going through doors turning back time slightly, giving us a chance to learn the situation and perfect our movements, while also giving us extra attempts at it. This isn't a video game though, we may have extra chances, but we still only have one life.

Somehow one of the gang members also goes through a door, changing everything. Now it's a mess of 6 people all running through doors, changing time and fighting. This only lasted for what seemed a couple of minutes, I've lost the man I was with and I'm cornered with a gun aimed straight at me. Time slows down and I hear 4 or so loud slow bangs, I have no time to move out of the way, let alone get through a door. Bullets come heading towards me, I see one near my arm and I feel it touch me for just a second before it passes through. This happens a couple more times, and I feel each one until I die. That's when I woke up, but in a very calm and usual way, this was not a nightmare or scary dream at all.

In every dream I have, it's either based on something I have recently read/watched, or taking over the world or just pure randomness.
