I was just thinking, and how has Fallout Equestria avoided copyright problems thus far? Is it because of how different it is from MLP, or something else? It has been out for a while and Hasbro has never touched it.
Same reason no other fan fic has copyright issues. I know there are a few things that don't allow fan works of their stuff. Hasbro could do it, but could you imagine the Brony uproar. It would be amazing. Anyway, maybe hasbro just doesn't care.
Because, it really doesn't infringe upon Hasbro's intellectual property in the show, the intellectual property being basically the characters AS SEEN in the show. And also it's called anonymity, if the writers stay anonymous, then Hasbro can't C&D them because they don't have information on them.
While it doesn't infringe on any characters or show assets, technically it still infringes, but really only in its title. Equestria is a Hasbro trademark (same saying Fallout is a game trademark). Companies don't usually go after fan works because they [usually] do not bare much weight on how "damaging" it is to their trademarks or copyright. This gets debated constantly as does the legality of things such as fan sites like ours; as in the legal eye the internet is still somewhat of a "no man's land" with copyright protection and can go either way. The site that claims ownership to the sale of those FO:E hardcopy books however can easily receive a C&D. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 4 Beta
