i thought with the want of more positive posts and threads, i would create a thread dedicated to the good deeds of everypony.

to mods: i'm sorry if there is already a thread on this. if there was, i could not find it.

Any pony who has done something good that they feel fit to share can post it here!

when i say good deeds, i dont mean something absolutely helpful or major. biohazard is a good example. he said he just holds the door for people and properly treats them with respect. that really all you need.

please follow the rules when posting.

    example of a good deed:

I helped my teacher who has a bad back bring loads of books up 3 flights of stairs into his office.

I stood up for a friend who was being teased for his autism.

i drove a friend back home after his ride ditched him

^ all things i did within the last week.

start posting your good deeds everypony!

    - Helping out my Grandmother with her Craft show for the next couple weeks, since she can't do it alone
    - Always Holding the Door to anyone close behind me.
    - Stand up to my Special Ed Friends from getting picked on. (Yes, i spent many of years in Special Ed and not afraid to Say it.)
    - Willing to help out when help is needed.

I got more in my listing but it will go on and on.

I wish this thread was posted up a long time ago. It's good to all people to help out and show kindness to this world then having a bitter heart to those who seek refuge.

Last week I helped an elderly person up after they fell over on the stairs at the bus interchange, then phoned an ambulance for her because she still felt ill.

The latest would be helping my teacher fix the classrooms computers because someone had dun goofed them up.

I tend to be quite the shut-in, so I haven't helped anyone recently, but I occasionally offer assistance to strangers I pass at the gas station or hold the door for them.

During the last Dwite (A programming competition), after a while, I decided to forgo my own work,
therefore dropping my own position, and went around helping others with algorithms, or pointed out
useful Java libraries, so they don't have to recode the wheel.

I actually helped someone out today actually; some guy was writing something on a piece of paper on a wall and the wind blew it away, I helped him get them back.

-I've helped pick change up for an elderly woman who dropped them, that was a few months ago.
-I was shopping with my Grandmother and she fell off the curb, so obviously I helped her up.

this doesn't apply to me but i had to post it.

-A German exchange student stood up for me today after i was being teased for sucking at basketball.
i was surprised she knew English... and she was very scary too.

I love good deeds! You guys are such good souls. :3

All I can think of this week is helping a lady load her groceries while she tended her crying baby. That's about it. :p

The problem with good deeds and public education is that the latter made the former mandatory and attempted to quantify them so as to set a minimum.

Therefore, problems arise of the altruistic kind, as well as the work kind.

Toronto school system : Makes you do 40 hours community service.

Result: 90% of all people see helping others as a chore. The rest don't care.

lol. your school system sucks then. here, you are recommended to do 20 hours of life hours (basically anything that counts as helping), but you don't have to. most people do it because they like to help.

    btw helped out again.
    - let my friend borrow my air pump to fill his flat tire... if i didnt he would have been late to work and be fired... yay! i saved a friends job!

i dont want to be the only helpful pony around here! come on everypony! post your good deeds!

Philanthropy has sort of gone nauseatingly overboard. High school was like a competition to see who could do more charity work [motivated entirely to fluff college applications]. It's all very phony.

*sigh* is doing something good all that hard? so far it seems like people see helping as an unneeded chore...

I just hold doors open for people coming in right behind me, just seems like the polite to do.

Ah, I'd forgotten. I lent $20 to a friend who desperately needed it for supplies for his son. It apparently went quite a long way for him. That was about 2-3 months ago and now he's found a stable job and everything.

(I hope he pays me back soon, I need it! lol)

Hmm, well, I do lots of good deeds at work - it's part of my job, sort of. But I don't view it like that. I think part of the unwritten deal we have for living here on this planet, is to help others out. Manners and helping people are a part of that.
