(Well, I guess I'll start this off.) The night was cold, the plains were still, and the farm was quiet. A man and his wife walked through the gardens, talking about how they will care for their child when that time comes, but most of all, they talked about what to do when "HE" wakes up. "I understand, but he is my brother, we can't just leave here." The man argued. "I know he is your brother, but we have no other options. The war will start over and-" "And then what?" The man turned to his wife, holding her in a hug as she returned the favor, "I promised the USNC that he will be in cryogenic sleep until the war begins, but we would have left then. HE will be asleep until something or someone reawakens him, and it sure as hell won't be us-" A large purple beam of light had struck the tree line before anyone could react. Everything was turned to ash and dust and rubble; the barn, the fields, everything. But, below that barn was a door, a door that led to a rather large and metal room. There, was a cryopod, and in it would be the last super soldier of HIS time.
Covenant Datalogs- Date: 2677.29 units Location: In orbit around installation 07 Ship: True Interception Shi-hee was staring at a monitor when one of his brethren called from within the relatively small ship. "Sir, the scans indicate that the humans have already cleansed the ring of the infections." "Vary good. We were gifted to even find this relic of destruction." He said, looking at a holographic image of the ring. "What is it's status?" "Heavily crippled. I will not be able to fire. Also, the atmosphere condensers are also disabled." the lesser explained. "Then we shall return with a ship better suited for the gurney to the surface. Record the ringworld's location and get ready for a jump to slipspace." Shi-hee ordered, looking back to his monitor. He had hoped to set foot on the ringworld he soon would call home, but it would have to wait.
A loud beeping could be heard, small hissing was made as the Cryo pod thawed out its host, a Spartan 2. Austin had awoken, the feeling of reality hitting his head as the door to the cryo pod opened. He stepped out, his vision blurry at first but it came back. Austin looked around, forgetting that he still had his armor on. He walked around the Cryo lab until he cam upon the weapons he had fought with during the early wars of 2531-2557. Two Magnums and a Shotgun, thats all he needed. He placed them on his magnetic plates which were on his back, every Spartan had those, as well as ODST's and Marines. Austin walked until he made it to the entrance, opening the wooden underground doors. He stepped out, as there were swarms of Covenant assault carriers in the sky. Ashes and rubble was what was left of the landscape, nothing more. -In the Covenant Citadel- Five figures stood at a holo map of the planet Harvest, where a halo ring had floated near. The five figures were the newer yet old prophets. "We must act now!" One of them said slamming his fists down on his chair. "Calm yourself brother, it is only a matter of time before "THEY" arrive." One of the others said. "Do you think that THEY will forgive us? We have joined the humans in hopes of-" "The humans will be disposed of in a matter of time. I have already sent out our smallest fleet to destroy this "Harvest" planet they speak of. By now, they will have noticed." UNSC fleets drops into orbit, surrounding the planet Harvest for an attack. The Covenant detected the ships and began their assault as each faction tears each other apart.
Slipspace The small ship traveled with ease through the void of anti-space. As the comm officer relaxed himself for a much needed nap, a signal flared on his console. He typed in a command code and read the display. He then stood from his workstation and said, "Sir, there are anomalies readings within slipstream at the vega quadrant. It seems to be around... planet Harvest." Shi-hee tapped a few commands into his view screen and looked at the charts himself. There was a great deal of desturbacses in that quadrant. Had had the second faction war finally made it to Harvast? Seeing as their trajectory was in line with the plant, he decided it would be nessesary to check the disturbance personally. "Plot a course for the human outpost. Disperse the concealment shields the second we enter the system." He ordered. After a half hour, the bow of the small ship began to glow. Black splashes formed ahead of them, growing rapidly. The scouts hip passed through with ease, now back in normal space. In an instant, they were cloked.
Austin ran through the ash filled woods as large swarms of Banshees fired behind him. If he took them head on, then he'd be screwed sideways. Some of them crashed into the ground as missiles hit a large amount. Austin saw on his hud that there was a base several hundred yards away, could the outpost have outer AA turrets? That question didn't matter as Jiralhane jumped out of cloaked phantoms and spirits, already shooting at the Spartan. Austin would have no choice but to engage. A large Covenant carrier crashed into the planet as it exploded, pieces flying outward as more and more explosions could be heard. Luckily, Austin was out of the way when that happened as the Covenant foes were being crushed or distracted by the parts and pieces of the ship as the finally came crashing down. "55 yards," The Spartan said running a full 65 mph. he would make it, IF the base was not destroyed, or worse.
"Sir!" One of the members called. "Both UNSC and covenant contacts are spread across the orbit of the planet. None of them have detected us from the sound of comm chatter." "Excellent. Move the ship into a low orbit. There has to be meeting as to why the two forces are here in such number." The elite called as he peeped the pulse scanning gear. As the ship passed segments of molt an titanium armor, Shi-hee looked out the viewport to see the burning world. This is why he left. To flee from the destruction to both races. Shaking his mind back to the task at hand, he tapped a command into the scan system. After a few minutes in orbit, the reminiscence called out. "There is a great deal of found conflict, but there is something else. From what is being said, there looks to be a.... Spartan."
Jiralhane and Unggoy spilled out, or the humans would rather call them the Brutes and the Grunts. Half of them were either crushed by the flying rubble, or they were cut down by UNSC upgraded Flame Mortars, the Anti-Infantry weapon (AI Turrets). Austin made it to the base as a country accented marine yelled, "You ain't gettin' in till those damned apes are dealt with, we can't afford to let the battle into the base-" "Look out!" Another marine yelled as plasma bombs hit the walls of the base, sending the Spartan flying back. Austin quickly got up as the Covenant forces began their assault on the base. He had to take them out, but this many? Oh well, he shrugged off the idea of death and charged at the army with his shotgun in hand. Jumped off from a cliff and into a clan of Brute Chieftain, from there he would need to dodge the gravity hammers and kill them swiftly, which seemed like an easy operation. It wasn't. The first one slammed its weapon down, Austin ran in and shot in the throat killing it. Another swung its energy sword two the side trying to hit the Spartan, but he wasn't having any of that. Austin quickly slid under the behemoth brute and shot its chin, only shooting armor off. The chief tried slamming its foot down as the Spartan rolled away and spotted a weak spot, the back of the legs, this was easy he thought. Austin quickly dodged the incoming swings from the brute as he shot in the face and rolled forward making it to the back, sadly it was covered in armor. He began climbing it, tearing a sharp piece of armor off and shoving through the brutes neck, killing it. Some for the minor brutes and grunts charged but were quickly killed by flying shells. The other six began charging but abruptly stopped and turned and ran. Austin turned only to see a large ship, A LOT larger than its cousin in the ground. It came crashing, and guess where it was aiming, "Why me?" The Spartan questioned himself as he began running from the ship. He probably would not make it, but there was a ten percent chance he would make it.
Shi-hee glaceed at the screen to recheck the results. From the reports on the ground, it did look like there was a disturbance among the higher forces. "Make ready for an intercept with him. Stay cloaked, but be ready for anything. Prep the plasma cannons for bombardment." He ordered. He looked out the front view port as they descended into the atmosphere. As they arched down, he caught a glimpse of something joining their decent. A covenant light carrier. The ship descended at a faster rate than the carrier, but it was going to be close. "Increase the flow of power to the engines! We must find that spartan at once." He barked. They had just broke through the atmosphere when they spotted a small firefight on the ground. It was between a weakened platoon of covenant troops and a small base. Outside the base was their target. "Decloake the ship and raise the shields. I want the spartan alive." Shi-hee ordered as he approached the hatch. The ship was nearing ground level, and was roughly 10 yards from the spartan.
The carrier crashed, but continued to slid at a rapid speed. It was catching up. Austin could see what looked like a covenant transport, only it had Senghelli. Was that good or bad, it didn't matter anyway, if they were smart- A large beam of light exploded, not colliding with the planet, but rather rising from underneath. Large black and blue ships, larger than any other covenant ships took off with in the beams, destroying what ever was in the air. Austin was close to the Senghelli ship, his shotgun at the ready just incase.
The ship shuttered when it was hit by the shock wave of the crash. Shi-hee motioned to the human to get into the ship, but was caught off guard by the beams breaking the surface of the planet. "Get into the ship, human!" The warrior yelled in common as the carrier neared their position. They didn't have mush time before they were pulverized by the oncoming ship.
Austin heard the Senghelli, he was damned sure to get in that ship. He was running until the very earth in front of him broke off into a large hole. He jumped and successfully made it into the ship. More and more ships arose as if the planet was full of them.
Shi-hee pulled the human into the the ship as he views the ships pouring out of the planet. His crew tilt the scout ship to the side as to avoid a close collision. Seeing the ships pull out, he reentered the ship. Closing the hatch, he called to his brethren (in Senghelli) "Get the ship into orbit! Cover us!" He called. The ship lurched upward as they began their assent. Looking to his crew, he hoped that coming to here was not a grave mistake. He then glared to the Spartan. "What caused this?"
"No clue," Was all Austin could say. He had never seen anything like this before, hell, not even the Forerunner could pull this off. As clear as day both Covenant and UNSC armies were easily torn apart by the even larger unknown space crafts. They seemed to be concentrated on the larger and yet smaller groups of each faction. It was a massacre. "So, I don't suppose that you boys know what the hell those things are?" The Spartan asked in his normal yet deep and firm tone.
Shi-hee returned to his command chair to view the battle. His team was tracking the battle, although it was foolish to call it so. It was best to call it a manicure. Both factions were taking sever casualties. "No, we don't. The only reason we are here is because we were signaled by the incoming fleets jumps through slipspace." He said, not looking to the spartan. He viewed the ships masicure the covenant fleets, not an ounce of remorse in his eyes. {"Orders, sir?"} One called out in Senghelli. {"Get us into slipspace. Target the seventh ringworld."} He ordered. Shi-hee was going to land on the halo, no mater the atmosphere.
The Spartans comms were down, meaning he couldn't reach contact with UNSC personnel. He cursed under his breath, "Where are we going exactly?"
The lead elite didn't answer, as he was analyzing the halo construct. He nodded to his second in command to tell him. The lesser nodded in confirmation. "We a headed to a fallout base. It's known as installation 07 by your people." He said, tuning back to his task. The ship entered slipspace headed towards the ringworld. Shi-hee was wondering (and slightly hoping) the spartan didn't know what installation 07 was.
"Installation huh," The Spartan knew what an installation was, he knew damn too well what was on it, "Are there any Flood Infection on it, and if there is was it released?"
Shi-hee was now wanting to answer the questions himself. He pulled up a holographic display and sent it into the center of the ship. "The curse you know as the flood are eradicated. However," He began as he stood from the chair and walked over to the holo-ring. He gestured to an area the ring that looked deeply scarred. One section seemed to even have a hole. "the atmospheric generators are weak do to you humans. You have already visited the ringworld. Due to your prsence there, there is no atmosphere on the ring. We hope to find a base that is both able to contain our ship and is directly connected to an atmospheric generator." He explained.
Austin looked at the hologram, looking at ancient Forerunner buildings one of them is bound to have some form of generator. He looked at one in particular building, unlike all of the others this one was not active and was put in lockdown, "What about this building? It seems to be locked down somewhat, but its also the largest out of the others making it an easier target. If you ask me, it could have a generator, then again I could be wrong."
Shi-hee noticed the building, and nodded. "We agree with your early judgment. However, it would be too easy if it were just a base. There is more to that structure than what the map indicates. You wouldn't believe us if we told you, so we will take you there our selves. After a few minutes, they came out of slipspace near the ringworld. The ship approached the outer perimeter and began an intercept with the structure from the hologram. They finally arrived at the base, the view port facing it. Shi-hee motioned to it, saying, "Well?" (thought I would leave the twist to you.)
