Austin was strangely eager to go and investigate the old forerunner temple, for all he knew there could be an actual challenge. One of the large ships used slip space and floated over the large building. Soon others did the same, but luckily they did not see the small transport ship. Fighters and what looked like drop ships began to descend upon the landing pad. "So," The Spartan began, "should we go and investigate the temple, or should we leave?" Austin's helmet covered his own expression, the expression that you would see as "challenge accepted" type thing.
Shi-hee looked over to his comm master. {Why didn't you warn me of immanent slipspace ruptures?} (btw, {} means Senghelli) {The ships masked the impulses of the em emissions.} The officer explained. The superior elite looked to the human. "I knew your species were reckless, but not to this extreme. I will drop us off on the western platform. The will meet us once we clear the hangers." He explained. The ship lowered into a forest, crushing some foliage in the process. Shi-hee took to the hatch. Once exiting, he called to the spartan. "The air is thin here. Your mash should suit you, but I can't last long in the lower atmosphere."
Austin stepped out of the ship with his shotgun at the ready, "Surprisingly you have no suit to trap oxygen, best if we get moving now." He began to run, hoping the Senghelli could keep up.
Shi-hee fallowed the spartan to the fortress. The scout ship desolated behind him as the cloaking device concealed the craft. "The reason we do not have breathing units is becomes we do not wish to lower ourselves to the gas gulpers. You know them as grunts." He explained, igniting his energy swords. "Now, if you need me, I'll be getting the hanger bay available." The slight vanished as he activated his stealth generator.
-Inside the destroyers- Thousands of troops in lines prepared themselves for landing. They were taller than your average day Senghelli master, they faster, stronger and more intelligent than the Forerunner and Spartans. In a large dark space was a throne, and on it was a massive being. It was made up of nothing but metal, blades covered the majority of the arms, shoulders, legs, and back. "My lord," A troop came from the shadows, "It appears that there is an infection within the temple, shall we purge it?" The being moved its head slightly, and in a dark demonic voice, "Send in the Bleak units, I sense not the infection, but two different beings, one of Reclaimer origins, the other of Senghelli. Find them and capture them, we must discover the Forerunners so that we may purge them of this realm." Austin was near the temple and spotted a group of the newer aliens. They seamed well armored, and they seemed to also be using energy weapons. They were massive compared to the Spartan, but size never matters, "The bigger they, the harder they fall."
Seeing as the spartan had the attention of the new forces, Shi-hee strafed past the fighters. Not wanting to get himself noticed, he ran undetected the the gate to the massive structure.
The newer creatures began to fire their weapons, but the Spartan was having none of that. He rushed the units and shot one of them in the neck, killing it automatically. One of them went up to cluck the Spartan in the face, but Austin was smarter than that. As he fought the fist in his own palm, the Spartan put the shotgun up to the creatures bare chin and shot it, blowing away the lower half of the head.
Seeing the human gallivanting along, creating a mess in his wake, Shi-hee sighed. "Humans... foolish thick-headed species. Why they have gotten this far I will never know." He turned from the door and charged at an approaching alien. With a swipe of his cloaked energy sword, it was bisected. "Human, stop playing with the new pests and see what you can do with this door." He called, tossing a plasma grenade at a pair of approaching beasts. His cloak distorted due to the movement, but thankfully he had killed anyone who was in range of noticing.
Austin ran over to the door, nothing on his motion sensor was beyond that point. It was the same size as one of the hatches to one of the life boats, this was going to be easy. He jammed his fingers into the thin spaces of the door, and pushed outward, prying it open. Luckily there were nothing on his motion sensor.
Shi-hee stood next to the spartan, decloking himself. However, he kept his swords lit and ready. His eyes adjusted to the light levels. From the looks of it, there was nothing hostel within, but that's what he disliked. There had to be more to this place than an empty building. "Does your tracking systems detect any movement?" He asked, glancing at every craves he could spot from the doorway.
"Nothing," Austin said with a sick feeling, "Theres nothing good about, "Nothing." He had his shotgun at the ready, making sure it was pointed ahead and where ever he looked, "Best if we get moving, don't wanna be out in the open like this." -Below the temple- Old rotten bodies lay, warped and tore from the inside out. A creature lurked, trapped in its own imprisonment. The Dredge units made they're way to an old blood stained door. They hack it open and once it opened, they began to fire. In the old halls of the temple, all that could be heard were the gunfire and screams of the units.
Hie-hee brought up a hand, hearing the gunfire. He looked over to the spartan, curious as to what it was. "I doubt we are alone any more." He said, looking to the hatch they came in from. Without warning, it closed and sealed.
"S***," The Spartan looked back at the door, but then turned to a screeching, "Well, that sounds excited." A creature appeared from a dark corner, its jaw was missing, its arm bones were extended to the point they were more than a foot through the palms, its stomach was almost revealed and it had two extra smaller arms around the stomach. The creature looked like it was once human, but it looked like flood as well, but its body was altered differently. The creature remained there, staring at the Spartan and Senghelli. "Well, it looks hostile," Austin began, "It's best if we kill it." Austin pointed his shotgun at the newer creature.
The sangheili stared at the creature, a curiousness in his eye. "This is not like any flood before... is it possible that they have mutated into a new form?" He asked, raising his blades in defense.
The creature neared, until it began charging at the two. It roared as leaped into the air so it can stab them when it lands. Austin began shooting at it, blowing small chunks off of the creature.
At the sight of the attacker charring, Shi-hee growled a war-cry and chard at it. He brought up his blades and crossed them both into the beast.
The creature seemed for effective by energy weapons. It was chopped in half as its body fell onto the ground, but it began to crawl towards the two wanting its kill. Austin blew its head off, "Well, that was… new?" Noises could be heard as more and more of the creatures appeared around the two.
Shi looked at his blades that were covered with the creatures... blood. Deactivating the blades, it fell to the floor. He reignited them at the sound of more of the beasts approaching. "I feel that this was a bad idea walking into this building. Are these from the new ships, or is this something else?" he asked.
Austin could only stare at lest 51 of these things, they were white on his motion tracker, "Um, Splitlips, they're infection." And at that moment they all charged, wanting to get their… what ever the hell they were on the Spartan and Senghelli.
"Not to ruin your title of spartan, but I sugjest we find more weapons or fall back. These things are barley effected by your... projectile weapon and I can only get to them a close range." He said, beginning to see the outlines of the beasts approaching. "If you can find a way out, I will hold them off." He said, priming a plasma grenade.
