*A radio broadcast is heard* hello is any... there? my name is............. and I need help. I am trapped in an unknown facility in.. and im scared. I need help and the... I know is that I am on the....... level deep ...... *Transmission repeats*
Darklight heard the unclear message calling from her old radio, "What the-" That radio hadn't worked in years or at least not that she's known of. She trotted over to it carefully changing the settings on the dials trying to get a better signal in. About that time Sparks came into the room, "Oh, did you get that old thing working?" She quickly made her way over to Darklight to investigate the once thought ruin of technology. Darklight shrugged, "I'm not sure. I thought it was broken this whole time but this message just started playing over the airwaves. I'm trying to zero in so it's a little more clear." She continued to fiddle with the dials.
*the message starts again* Please help I....... going to...... my........ are x 290.... y 500 *it cuts off again*
Darklight, still fiddling with the dials, spoke, "This doesn't sound like some freelance radio show. Sparks, this a distress signal! Get a quill and paper, quickly!" Sparks immediately used her magic to levitate over a quill, an inkwell, and a parchment. "Now write this down: xenon, two, nine, zero, yellow, five, zero, zero." Sparks was quick to write down exactly what she was told. "Read that back to me." Sparks, turning her attention back to the piece of paper, read, "Xenon. Two. Nine. Zero. Yellow. Five. Zero. Zero." Darklight stopped fiddling with the radio for a moment, "Those are coordinates but to where I'm not certain. I don't even know if those were the right coordinates. It sounds like whatever unlucky pony is on the other side of this frequency is in some serious trouble." Upon her silence, Darklight once again began to fiddle with the dials. Sparks, puzzled from the sudden severity of the situation, hesitantly responded, "So, what do we do? If somepony is in trouble we have to try to help them but if we can't be sure these are the right coordinates then we might not be able to find them. I've never even heard of coordinates like this before." "It's an old method used for short com transmission. Most ponies look at Equestria from a linear perspective. When you hear coordinates you're more than likely thinking about latitude and longitude. There's another way to look at it though. It's sort of like that system, they both use grids, but this one is a bit more complicated. I don't really have time to explain everything to you but just trust me when I say that these are coordinates." Sparks sighed, "Okay, but you said you're not even sure that these are the right coordinates. Why'd you say that?" Darklight sighed, "The radio transmission was a bit static-y and ..." "And?" Sparks inquired. "And those coordinates would mean that whoever is transmitting is doing it from uncharted territory," Darklight let out a long and thoughtful sigh. "It would make sense though, why the signal is so bad. But-" "But?" "It could just be this piece of junk radio!" Darklight hit the radio with her hoof, causing Sparks to jolt a bit.
