Monk readied his weapon and moved to the east side of the airstrip before the Detail Lead chimed in. "Helicopter coming in from the north, looks like a Blackhawk...That must be the inspector! Everyone, ready up, We've got to repel this last wave!"
Either the rebels had impeccable timing, or they somehow knew about the inspector. They had sent way too many men for it to be a simple patrol. Jack checked out the incoming Black Hawk through his scope. "Dammit! The chopper's unarmed! They're sitting ducks up there!" He sprinted southeast, firing potshots in the direction of the approaching enemy. "Disciple! With me! We need to lead these bastards away from the package!"
Diego quickly ran with Jack, throwing his Bowie Knife as if it was a normal throwing knife as it slammed into the exposed throat of a rebel that tried to storm the hangar. Quickly swapping to his rifle, he emptied half a mag as each bullet hit precisely where they wanted it to, dropping around five different Rebels. One of the last rebels held an RPG as he aimed it at the helicopter above. Disciple aimed down his rifle, set the weapon to semi-auto, and fired one expertly placed bullet at the holster of the rocket wielding rebel, hitting a grenade on his belt and blowing him and the rest of the rebels all to hell. This was not before the rebel shot the rocket, just missing the Black Hawk by meters. Diego looked about and held his hand in the air, everything attacking was dead. Diego went over to the bloody remains of one of the rebels and retrieved his knife. Wiping the blood of it, he went over to the group. Hopefully, the VIP could land safely.
"Well comrades, area clear, I dont see anyone from my position. Going to your location ASAP." Viktor said to the radio as he was picking up his things. While he walked, he was counting and writing eveyone he had taken down in a little book he had.
Jack checked the fallen rebels for signs of life, finishing off three survivors with his pistol. "Threat neutralized. I'm heading back now." The instant the Blackhawk landed, Jack opened the door and yelled at the pilot. "Who the hell authorized you to fly an unarmed chopper into rebel territory?! Are you crazy, or just stupid?!"
"I did!" a yelled a voice over the roar of the helicopter. A man hopped out from side door, dressed like he'd belong with the rebels yet had the face of some Hollywood actor on a B-movie set. "We need to hurry," he yelled before pounding the side of the helicopter, telling the pilot to take off. "I have a contact waiting for us in Downtown Zargabad. It's imperative that we leave now!"
Disciple just sighed before heading over and getting into the helicopter, jumping onto it before strapping himself in
Pierce backed up, and with amazing accuracy shot some rebels running at him, before strapping in the helicopter.
Viktor, still writing in his book, was walking to the choper, when he arrived, he just went into it, still writing, like if nothing was happening around him.
The Inspector looked a little dumbfounded as they both went in. "We're not going in the god damned chopper! We'd either get picked out of the sky or rebels might panic and kill the contact!" The detail hurried over and took the Inspector's arm before pulling him over and in to one of the SUVs. "Fine we'll do it your way, but I swear to god you're paying for every little dent or dust spec that gets on my vehicles or men."
Jack walked over to the SUV at the rear of the convoy and opened the driver's side door. The driver looked barely old enough to shave. "Shove over, kid. I'm driving." The young man nodded, and ran around to the passenger side. Jack checked the rear view mirror, and noticed an M60 machine gun laying across the back seat. "If I'm taking rear guard, I'm gonna need a need a gunner!"
Viktor stoped writing and went into the SUV "Let me handle it" he said as he was getting ready the M60.
Monk hurried into the the passenger side of the second vehicle, keeping his Glock ready instead of his bulky FN FAL.
Pierce rolled his eyes. He hopped in the backseat of the rear vehicle, next to the gunner, and reloaded his Ace 52. "Hurry up and start this thing before they get more heavy armor!"
Jack turned the key and started the engine. He looked thoughtfully at the two SUVs in front of him. Those in lead vehicle would be responsible for watching for rebels and IEDs. The middle vehicle, protected front and rear by the other vehicles, carried the Inspector and most of the essential gear. Those in the rear vehicle had the task of stopping any rebels that tried to pursue the convoy. Jack had found in the past that the five hundred and fifty 7.62mm rounds per minute spit out by the M60E4 General Purpose Machine Gun that Victor held in his hands were usually more than sufficient to discourage pursuers.
The convoy quickly tore out of the airfield and back onto the desert road as the blackhawk flew back north towards US territory. Within moments, an unarmed pickup truck sped in from the east before driving parallel with the convoy. The driver, what looked like a youth barely out of highschool, rolled down his window and chuckled, speeding up and reving his engine as if he was egging the middle on for a race. "I got a kid here who irritating the hell out of me. No clue if he's a rebel or not." the driver reported over the radio. "Anyone got any ideas?"
"Ignore him. If he's a local, he'll get bored eventually." It was a delicate situation. They didn't want to risk alienating the local populace with a show of force. At the same time, anyone could be an enemy. They didn't exactly wear uniforms. For all Jack knew, the kid could be trying to lead the convoy into an ambush, or simply providing a distraction for attackers moving in. "If he does anything suspicious, take him out. We can't risk the mission over something like this."
"I have this" Monk said as he crawled into the backseat, despite his size and age. He quickly scooted over to the tinted window before rolling it down and poking out half. He smiled and a waved at the youth before pulling out his FN FAL and firing it out behind the convoy. The youth quickly swerved and drove away as Monk pulled his head back in, laughing. "Hahaha! Always love doing that!"
"That... was pretty much the exact opposite of what I said. Poor kid probably needs to change his shorts now." Jack couldn't help but laugh. The look on the boy's face had been priceless. "Oh well. Whatever works, right? At least we know he wasn't a rebel!"
Diego just sat in the back, silent as always. He did get some satisfaction in watching the mortified boy suddenly panic in fear, but he kept it to himself. He had a small grin on his face though.
