Mane Color/Style/Length: A purple-blue mane, just starting to show the early signs of grey for a pony approaching his middle-aged years. Though the dark and vibrant blue is still very prominent, the grey in Loyal's mane is noticeable. His mane is not long to maintain a sense of professionalism, but long enough to it to flow slightly. His hairline splits in the middle, hanging down to the center of his cheek on the right sight, but growing distinctly longer to the bottom of his jaw on the left side. He prefers his hair to fall down the side of his face, so as not to interfere with his vision. Coat Description: There are some distinctive age marks budding on his face, so his emerging age is evident. Though instead of making him look worn, it implies a sense of emerging wisdom. Though whether anyone is wise, is in the opinion of the individual, his slightly aged complexion gives that impression. Though his face shows emerging age hood, the rest of his coat appears quite youthful, though that can be attributed to the physical activity of being a knight. His coat is a very vibrant shade of dark purple, that could almost be mistaken for black at a glance. Eye Shape/Color: His eyes are a pale grey color. Some would say it implies a certain lifelessness, if one looked that deeply into his eye color. Though his eyes are quite wide and large, suggesting a vigor contradicting the lifeless impression of his pale grey eyes. Accessories: When dressed for any sort of mission of assignment, he adorns his armor: A set of four bronze leggings that protect each of his hooves, maintained and polished to the standards set about for Equestrian Knights. Being a Unicorn Pony, his helmet is customized to encompass 75% of his horn. His use of magic is his primary form of offence and defense, thus making it an asset. This helmet design allows him to channel his magic, while providing his horn with some protection. The helmet completely covers his face, and extends back to protect his jaw and cheekbones. It allows for an opening in the rear, most for the sake of allowing him to ventilate and breathe properly. It is fashioned in the same bronze that his hoove-guards are, His final piece of armor is a chest plate that protects his neck, the upper parts of his forelegs, and his chest area. It is well maintained and polished, and made from the same bronze that the rest of his armor is. On the front of the chest piece, the cutie marks of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna are painted in juxtaposition with each other in addition with the Valiant War Horse of Destrier Company standing proudly to symbolize his status as a Knight and his Loyalty to the crown. When he attends formal occasions, he does not adorn his armor, but his formal uniform. His formal wear includes a cloak that is stitched velvet black thread with the Valiant War Horse of Destrier Company standing proudly to show his company affiliation. The edges of the cloak are embroidered with an outline stitched in fine gold thread. The silver clasp that brings the cloak together is a simple ring, with no special symbolism associated with it. He wears formal silver horse-shoes, that prove to be rather uncomfortable, and are not practical. They are worn merely for the sake of formality. When he is relieved of his duty, and not adorning ether his field armor or formal wear, he simply does not wear anything. He considers it inappropriate to adorn his knightly garments while not working. Allegiance: Being an Equestrian Knight, his allegiance is to the his superiors and by affiliation his loyalties lay in the sovereignty of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Cutie Mark: His cute mark is a Shield, with a sword gleaming diagonally across it. Special Talent: His special talent includes his mastery of combat magic, and his abilities to competently lead and command knights. His flank opposite his cutie mark has a single bar, adorned with two starts to signify his rank. This is not a cutie mark per say, but simply a mark magically put there to signify his rank of Lieutenant. Family: His father Valiant Shield has since retired as an Equestrian Knight. Loyal Blade regards his father highly, and often looks to his elderly father for guidance when he finds himself unable to make a decision. Though retired, Loyal's father currently works as a Military Historian for the Royal University of Canterlot, to pass on his experiences and knowledge to the students there. Loyal's mother is a Scholar, whose current research revolves around the Changling species. Interest in her area of study was sparked on account of the threat to Canterlot by Changlings about a year ago. Friends: Most of his friends are other Knights, particularly the Lieutenants and Knight-Sergeants of the the other companies, as well as the Knight-Sergeant's of his own company. He has a relationship of mutual respect with his company commander, whom he directly answers to. Personality: His line of work says a lot about who he is. In terms of a leadership role, he is firm and fair, and friendly wherever possible. Though he is most certainly not above flaring his temper in the face of insolence and insubordination. While he always provides honest council to his superiors, even if it is not what they would like to hear, when he is given an order he will carry it out without fault or hesitation. Though he tries to be as friendly as possible with his troops, he maintains his distance from anybody not within his chain of command (ie. The Rank and File), as he considers it important that the chain of command be maintained. Because the majority of his social interactions occur with his career, many know the firm, deadly serious, and disciplined "Lieutenant Blade". But few know whats behind the Knight, very few people know him who Loyal Blade is. Flaws: Sometimes what seems like a good quality can be a double-sided coin. With his sense of duty, and adherence to his superiors, he often finds himself very solitary. While to some this is just his nature, others see him as disinterested in companionship. His devoutness to the his Knighthood leave him morally empty. While not evil by any means, if given an order that seems immoral, his drive to carry out orders versus his sense of morality confuse him. He sometimes finds himself doubting if the bottom line is always the right thing to do. His code can even cause problems, where sometimes his stubborn sense of honor can cause more trouble than it prevents. [Character History] •Loyal Blade currently resides in the city of Canterlot. •His cutie mark came about when he was a teenage colt. He displayed a talent for athletics like many other young colts did, and his grasp of intrinsic Unicorn magic such as Telekinesis and Teleportation were just as refined as any your average Unicorn. Unlike a lot of Pony's, Loyal didn't discover his cutie mark based upon some marvelous event. As a matter of fact, he discovered it in a very plain fashion. While his father instructed him in combat spells, his natural ability for them flourished and his cutie mark appeared. •Loyal Blade is a Knight in the metropolitan city of Canterlot. He has been serving as a Knight for roughly 8 years, and recently celebrated his 30th birthday. Two years of competent service gained him a promotion to Sergeant, granting him authority over a squad of Junior Knights. Three years later his leadership abilities were rewarded with a promotion to Knight-Sergeant, granting him control of a division of 30 knights, with three Sergeants assisting him. Four years later he was granted a "Command Commission" and appointed Second in Command of Destrier Company (D Company), as well as the rank of Lieutenant. He has 120 Knights in his charge, including four Knight-Sergeants and Twelve Sergeants. He answers directly to his Company Captain. He has currently served in this position for one year, and proved himself able. Leaving his more youthful days behind him, Loyal Blade looks to the future, hoping one day to become Captain of Destrier Company, and maybe even Knight-Commander of the entire Equestrian Knighthood. [Current Home] Currently resides in Canterlot, serving as Second in Command of Destrier Company, and performing any tasks ordered of him. [Powers List] •Intrinsic Unicorn ability to use telekinesis. Though his use of Telekinesis is very refined, as it proves an effective combat tool. He is able to use his Telekinesis with great dexterity, allowing him to creatively fight if needed. •Intrinsic Unicorn ability to teleport •Intrinsic Unicorn ability to use magic, though he specializes in certain combat based spells such as creating a force field to defend himself from harm, being able to create beams of energy. He has a decent grasp of telepathy, though only at certain distances. It allows him to relay orders to knights more easily than yelling over the excitement of a combat situation. He is also able to locate lost Knights within' a given range using his telepathy. But telepathy is a very complicated magic, and while his grasp of combat magic is excellent, his use of telepathy is limited to short concise messages, and at short to medium ranges. He does not have the proficiency to perform Telepathy as competently as magically proficient Unicorns such as Twilight Sparkle, Princess Cadence, Princess Celestia, etc. Besides Combat Magic, his use of magic is no greater than any ordinary Unicorn.
