Rosenburg thought about Crimson's question. "I do know a spell that can reveal the page, but this is Star Swirl's book. I'm not sure that he'd allow just anypony to re-conjure his writings on a whim." He sighed. "Then again, it's worth the attempt I suppose. I just hope that an uncloaking spell will work." He dipped his head towards a the blank page of the book and focused. A soft glow started around his horn.
Spoiler: Uncloaking Spell Lore: 8 Rolled: 4 PASS Rosenburg's horn flashed, casting the revealing spell, and when everypony looked again, there was...nothing new. Spike scratched his head. "I dunno, guys...maybe it's just a book?" He opened it up to the first page with words and started scanning the page with his little reptilian eyes.
" I dunno Spike.... There could be something in this book. Since we are not getting anywhere, asking around for Twilight's whereabouts could not hurt." Crimson said. "I think i might have gone to far ahead with this, so i dont know if that's necessarly the best plan at this very moment."
Spike frowned a little as he read the book. "Why does Starswirl keep spelling magic M-A-G-Y-C-K? He might have been a genius, but he sure was a bad speller..." He looked up at Crimson. "Um...well if you mean going around to other towns, I don't know if that will work...but everypony in Ponyville already knows about Twilight, none of them said they knew anything." Pinkie Pie butted in. "Yeah, I asked EVERYPONY, but NOPONY saw her leave! Nopony! Spike continued reading the book.
From the background came the quiet voice of Fluttershy as she floated over Spike's shoulders. "Uhm... can I see the book?" She held her hooves out as she asked... as if anypony would listen.
Spike, after a few moments, turned around. "What was that, Fluttershy? I, uh, didn't quite hear you."
Midnight grabbed the book ad handed it to fluttershy "here you go, now how about we try the glossary see if there's anything about disaster, catastrophe, apocalypse, Armageddon or problem".
She took the book and looked at Midnight. Her eyes only met his for a moment before looking down. She landed on the ground quietly and turned around. Lifting the book by both sides of the binder, she tried something silly that she remembered from being a filly. She closed the book tight for a few seconds, then slowly slid both of her hooves back evenly until the book fell open on its own. She hoped that, through this, she would find the page studied the longest most recently. Since she knew how studious her friend was, she knew the most important page would be opened the longest - and it wouldn't be like Twilight to be staring at a glossery or anything. So she let the book open on its own, and held it with both hooves as she hovered again, reading over what it opened to.
The book opened cleanly to pages 436-437, under Part 4, where a list labeled "Events involving Darke Magyck" began. The first thing under the list was: The Darke Day (Also known as Day of Eternal Darkenesse) Note to self: Brainstorm better names ​ While I hate to label things "good" or "evil", Darke Day, as I like to call it, is certainly not anywhere near being beneficial to Ponykind. It happens every 1,254 years and 62 days, to the hour. I have not been able to figure out what exactly causes this phenomenon, but I hypothesize that there is some sort of Time Magyck bound to the inner workings of the process. It happens, every 1,254 years and 62 days, at Tripeak Mountain, which is an enormous mountain with three peaks (if you couldn't guess from the name; I can't help it if I like names that actually mean something) that rises out of a huge expanse of flat land called the Echo. For more information on these formations, please refer to my diary on the geographical features of our planet. Darke Day is a day on which all the Darke Magyck of the world is unleashed from the aforementioned point, and is free to do what it pleases. Attempts to stop this from happening have met with mixed results, often either resulting in the concentration of Darke Magyck inside the would be "hero", who then becomes an unstoppable, insane psychopath who destroys everything in their path, or in the hero's spirit matter getting torn to shreds, which severely weakens the flow of Darke Magyck (see section on Darke Magyck and the effects upon it of Good Deeds or Martyrdoms). Princess Luna is one example, when during one Darke Day she, in an attempt to save her subjects from the catastrophic destruction that would inevitably be caused by this event, tried to stop it from happening. Being more powerful than most, she was able to resist the worst effects of her possession, but Celestia was forced to banish her using the powerful Lighte Magyck of the Elements of Harmony in order to protect Equestria. She returned using the power granted to her by the Darke's possession of her, only to be decisively defeated by the Elements once again and have the Darkenesse driven out of her, this time by six young mares. There was a very long blank area that covered the remainder of the two pages and, as Fluttershy found out when she turned the page, the next two pages as well, before there was any more writing.
After a long time reading, she turns back to Spike and floats over to him. With a concerned expression, she hands the book over to him. "This sounds just terrible!" She had an obvious sound of terror and surprise in her voice... but still held her voice at a quiet level - not wanting to really cause too much of a panic.
"This must be why she left without warning. At least we have a lead to where she is going, but just what is she exactly up against?" Crimson then started to walk away from the group. Crimson then thought about the possible outcomes, nearly all of them ending in a negative way. Crimson now had a frustrated look on his face, he simply started to walk around the libary until he walked to the door. "Im not going to sit around for the end of the world, im going to get gear and my pistols. Twilight needs all the help she can get, i'll be back in 5 minutes." he said as he walked out the door and headed thowards his house near the town's edge.
Seeing Crimson walk out the door spurred Rosenburg into action. "Alright everypony," he called out to the library, turning around to face the rest of them. "We will be leaving soon. Everypony needs to pack whatever they need for a trip. Take whatever you can and want, but try to pack light. We'll be doing an awful lot of trekking. Meet back here in 5 minutes, like Crimson said." Rosenburg turned round and trotted over to the door. Looking back over his shoulder, he found Haze still staring at him. "Haze, I need you with me," he ordered rather gently before moving out of the door.
Fluttershy gave a look of concern as she watched the others, shrinking back from her current position. "Are you... sure? M... maybe she knows what she's doing, and doesn't need our help." Of course, who would listen to such a silly thing? Obviously that was fear making her voice so quiet.
Haze suddenly snapped out of a trance-like state. "Huh- Wha?" Noticing that Rosenberg had addressed her, she stood up nervously, and walked across the room to the door that he was stood by to meet him.
"I've already got my stuff, I packed a saddlebag of stuff before heading to my sisters or twilights mums house and telling her about it. News should of gotten to my nephew shining too". She smiled
Crimson came back to the libary prepared. He was wearing leather armor that almost covered his whole body with saddle bags built into it and was carrying two pistols. He then seen the others prepared in the main room. "Ok, im back. I'll wait around until everypony is ready but not too long. The longer we wait, the worse position that twilight might be placed in." Crimson also shown the group a large and detailed map of equestria. "From where we are and when Twilight left, she might be at least a day and a half ahead of us. That's a very long walk......"
Rosenburg returned not five seconds after Crimson had finished speaking. "I've packed some medical supplies and first aid gear, just in case" he reported. "I've also got some spellbooks and the like so that we hopefully don't have to resort to..." he glanced momentarily at Crimson's pistols "...violent measures. Anypony ask at any time if you need anything." He checked behind him. "Where is Haze?"
Haze was at her house by the front door, trying to leave. Something, however, was giving her this strange feeling she'd forgotten something... For the sixth time, she checked she had all the bandages, all the food, all the batteries and hardware she'd need... Then she re-checked. When she gave up trying to figure out what was causing her to feel she'd left something behind, she decided to just go and hope. Haze opened the door to the Library, her stomach lurching in worry that she'd forgotten something vital, the feeling just would't go away... She lugged her bag into the room and dropped it on the floor, relieved that her back would be free of its weight for perhaps a few seconds. "I... Think I'm Ready..." She panted
Crimson adjusted his pistols to ensure maximum effectiveness. "Hopefully i dont need these." he thought to himself, but he could not be certain. He walked out the door and waited for the others. To pass the time, he started to hum a tune from which he learnt since he was a child, he then suddenly remembered that he had his guitar for entertaining the group with his musical talents. He took it out of his bag and began to play, sitting down on the ground and began to relax for a few moments. But still knew that Twilight was in trouble. "Come on guys and gals......" he began to sing quietly, "Let's see what you shake what your momma gave you!"
