“Probably not,” she said apologetically. “What about a nice plant?”

 

She paused before laughing a little.

“I know.”

 

She blinked, slipping her hands in her pockets, the tarp under her arm.

“What do you want to know?”

 

"Uh..." She hesitated, looking around for a moment.

"My favorite color is blue. I'm 23 years old. I wasn't born in the city; all my family is out in the countryside. I'm not very smart, but I like to read in my spare time." She paused, glancing over at him. "What else?"

 

She laughed a little.

"Deer."

 

"And you love frogs," she replied, sitting on the edge of a bed. "That one took me a while to find out."

 

"Yeah," she said, watching him with adoration before quickly dropping her gaze. "Yeah. They're pretty cute."

 

She looked up at him in surprise, her hand instinctively going to her gunshot scar.

"...yeah. I was shot when we escaped.

 

She laughed a little, nodding.

"Yeah, we laid low for a while. I'm okay now."

 

She laughed lightly.

"You don't need to worry, Abes. I'm not your concern."
