It didn't change in the case of the other girls, so I believe this applies for Octavia, too. I still think Octavia would recognize Pinky right away. Or the producers could always think on a new way to troll the fans. Like... Octavia: (practicing for a new concert) ... Pinkie: (appears from the ceiling) INKY! (falls on Octavia, and then starts hopping) How you were doing all this time? Why you didn't reply to my letters?? Is it true that you're going to play tonight? Aren't you excited? Because I'm excited! Oooh, I'm so excited! (starts hopping around the room) Octavia: (shock) P-Pinkamena?? How... Where...?! Pinkie: (close to Octavia's face) Aww, c'mon! If Octavia and Inky are indeed the same pony, than maybe when Octavia/Inky saw Pinkie enter the ball room, Octavia/Inky was thinking "Oh Celestia! Not her! Not now! Don't recognize me! Don't recognize me! DON'T RECOGNIZE ME!" *notices she didn't* "Phew! That was close!"
Swell if anything, it's more fun that way - also it's interesting to see others develop, I doubt pinkie would be the only one to leave the rock farm
Yeah, it would be interesting if she really was Pinkie's sis / if good Lauren made her to be Pinkie's sis in season 2, really, the background characters get almost little to no personality/character development.
This whole "Octavia is Pinkie's sister" is kind of new to me. I like Octavia, probably because I like the cello and double bass. I can see where one might think that - Pinkie's sisters did look like Octavia. Although, they sure didn't seem to recognize each other. Yeah, I guess Octavia could have said, "Don't talk to me, please!!" before the party. I dunno, tho. I had heard that Lyra and Octavia were sisters - at least, in one fan fic I read. Yeah, I know - such reliable sources. Hmm, my second dead thread I've raised - this one more dead than the other. Just call me Lazarus. Er, no, that's not right. Now, who did the raising . . . Oh! Never mind.
Officially no, Octavia's not anyone's relative because they never did plan on her being popular But it's kinda fun to look for relations among the bg's so that's where that sprung up- the only real inference you@ an make about her and Lyra is that they're both musicians, so yeah that's less likely then the inkie pie assumption but it works nonetheless- though Lyra Octavia does rely on genetics allowing unicorns and non-unicorns to interbred so until there's anything official on that who knows
Well, Lauren Faust did say that Dinky (a unicorn) could be the daughter of Derpy (a pegasus), claiming that it would work. I think that was her exact words, but I'm not sure enough to quote her. So, I guess pony genetics are very strange indeed. Wonder what that DNA strand looks like? But, like you say, it's all just fan speculation.
