Ugh, those people giving the rest of us Christians a bad rap, and I'm actually from around there, I'm surprised I didn't hear about this, but that just makes me sick

I am, and always will be, irreligious. I play no part in religion, nor do I care about it. You could present the very same article to me, only written with the perspective on an irreligious anti-LGBT group, and I would still be utterly disgusted.
However, you see I have highlighted 'Conservatives'. Many of these people seek, as suggested by their name, to conserve the so-called 'purity' of people. What an absolute load of crud. People WILL be different, and we know that. Who should give a damn about economy, when we have people's rights and liberty to take into account? This is one of the reasons why I'm pro left-wing. Thatcher didn't give a damn about workers, she just abolished the unions, and made us all work. Granted, this saved the economy, but what about people? You're up there, eating your caviar and other ridiculous stuff, while your workers are slaving off miniscule amounts. How on Earth is that fair? I can see NOTHING right in Conservatism. Nothing at all.

And that links wonderfully in with this article. This neverending near-Nazism is the stepping stone towards these suicides. "No Homo Promo"? Rubbish. Why take these children's freedom? Homosexuality is both environmental and biological. You cannot stop biology, no matter what you try. Science will always succeed in the end. Now, these religious Conservatives seek to believe that every SINGLE part of the Bible speaks the entire truth. No it doesn't! Half of it has been found to not be true, and that includes homosexuality! If homosexuality has natural links, and God created nature, why would he call it an abomination? Conservatives close their minds from these issues which hurt others, paying no mind to them whatsoever, and that's just plain wrong. People matter as much as the individual.

Finally, I'd like to make a note about bullying.
Bullies, what goes on in your heads? Are your skulls to thick to comprehend the mere stupidity of what you're doing? You will, I have little doubt, grow up to be unemployed, without a home, living off bin rubbish, whereas nerds (like me), homosexuals, generally people not accepted by the school's 'norm', will live to be employed, will have an actual ambition! You're hurting yourselves as much as others, you know. Grow up and accept this.

But yes, you now know the type of person I disgust. My tolerance factor looks like this:
To be - To like - To accept - To tolerate - Intolerance - To Hate - To Despise.
You are on 'To Despise'.

It is astonishing that, in this day and age, this is happening, as you so rightly stated homosexuality is a part of nature, it is everybeing's right to do whatever they want and to have folk abuse them in such a way is, frankly, barbaric. It is also ironically amusing as the 'gay culture' is such an integral part of our modern society and is, for the most part, embraced. This makes Pinkie Pie a sad Pony. This was one a friend's Skype update. I read through it and the events are sadly not surprising. Still, I hate the persecution and accusations that occur. "Gay agenda"? That's laughable at best. The people that teach their kids these ideas with blind cruelty never consider what it would be like for their own kids to die in the same situation. One of these days, these children will lash out and commit murder against their oppressors.

Imagine how hard they will fall from such a high horse on that day.

 

I just wanna know how the teachers could just watch it happen and not think about stopping it. I mean really a policy was stopping them from stepping in. I wish the tables could be turned on people like that.

Forbidding Discussion of Homosexuality in Schools? This is one of the reasons why I facepalm when someone calls 'murica the 'land of the free' or something like that... Since clearly, This, among other things, Show it isn't.

Our school even launched an 'anti-homophobia' day, Handing out purple bracelets, and encouraging everyone to wear purple, to deliver the message. Most students did! and only a few were like 'I'm not wearing this, It'll make me look ghey, herp derp'.

Yes, it may freak me out to see gays acting gay in public, But it's just as bad as Jersey-Shoreing.

Now, If the State wouldn't be trying to smash it as much, Kids would learn that homosexuality is something to be tolerated.

I don't get it either, our country is pretty ass backwards, and they're actually taking the issue of gay marriage to the ballots during the 2012 elections in November, I hope it passes, it would be great to have my state allow it, and it would be a bog morale booster for my she-friend who happens to be a lesbian.

 

As a full supporter of gay rights, that article brings my blood to a boil. I've had gay friends in the past who were some of the nicest people and had done a lot for me and were there for me when I needed a friend. I have always been a good listener and always have an open-mind so when they told me they were gay I let them know right away that I was cool with it and supported it greatly. We are born who we are and nobody can change that. Diversity is what makes life interesting and worth living for me. I can't even comprehend the thought of some of my friends all of a sudden being gone because of the intolerance of certain cultures. Not cool!

Seriously, how can people say that with a straight face when people are too busy cheating on each other and destroying marriages? Gay relationships typically last longer. Hell, half of our news is about divorces and failed marriages. Honestly... >_>

 

I have to agree- even with the religious far-right being more vocal than ever, I simply do not see it gaining any footholds beyond those pockets like this. Also, the Church only solidified the lack of technological progression; the Dark Ages occured for a number of reasons, including the destruction of the Roman Empire and a massive bloodspilling as the various tribes wandered across Europe, destroying what remained and eventually settling. And while it may be absolutely horrible what is going on in that school, it isn't quite enough to start a new Dark Age (also, religion, in the end, conformed to allow technological progression, and many Rennaissance-era governments were still very religious-after all, they did base their legitimacy off their monarch's 'god-given right to rule'). On the contrary, government is more secular than ever before, and the fact that this is an outrage and that this is being fought shows not regression but progress. Counter-movements will always be there, and so will attempts at repression, but it won't be long before those are eventually overcome.

 

To be fair, everyone, these people are religious extremists and do NOT represent America as a whole. For example, I went to a Christian college and was an active member of the GSA there. While we weren't fully supported by the administration in everything we wanted to do, we held rallies, take back the night functions, and other things. Not ONCE was a slur hurled at us from admins or students. There were even religious extremists there who didn't like what we were doing but always addressed us respectfully in one-on one debate and discussion, usually over ice cream or something.

I for one abhor Abrahamic religions and what it has done to this world. Do I hate the people that believe in them? Of course not. That would be hypocritical as a spiritual person (I'm non-denominational pagan.) Do the religious extremists who try to make their misogynistic fairy tales into MY law and legislation bother the crap out of me? You bet.

Edit: as for the man/woman being correct thing. I agree to some extent as, with most organisms, we're intended to breed to keep the species going. So if your goal is to simply breed then it would be BUT since the world is grossly overpopulated, this rule is null becuase we're harming the world at this point. And if we're talking about LOVE between two people, love goes beyond sex or gender. So that aspect is irrelevant.
