What about simply using Brony or Bronie as a gender-nuetral term. It is used that way pretty commonly as it is, and it certainly is simpler and quicker off the tongue than the rest of them.

I think having Brony as a gender neutral term would be best. Wouldn't want to try to separate ourselves from each other with groups like this, we're all one big family!

I just call myself a brony. I feel it's a nice gender-neutral term. Plus, I've always just felt like one of the guys anyway lol

The problem with "Brony" is that it is NOT a gender-neutral word. its /b/ro or Bro + pony. I'm not a bro, most females aren't bro's.

I understand that Brony is the established term and, as was said we don't want to be divisive, we want to be one big family and I totally agree with that. But to say brony is gender-neutral isn't quite right, in my opinion.

At the end of the day if you're a lady and you want to be called brony, that's totally well within your right, but for those like me who find the term wanting, I prefer to be a proud Pegasister. :)

EDIT: and yes, the irony that I am in fact a UNICORN and not a PEGASUS is not lost on me xD

I'm not sure about other ladyfolk, but I consider myself to be pretty bronalicious. To me, it pretty accurately describes me. Also, a bromance is the best way to describe most of my friendships with my ladyfriends. *shrugs* I'm a bro. I'm a brony. I'm happy with that lol.

I'm of the opinion that each individual person
Should have the say into what they refer to themselves as
(and would prefer others do as such).

Not much sense in limiting options.

If I was female, I'd prefer to be called a brony as it is gender neutral. Although if it was one of those 3 I'd say pegasister.

Personally I feel that Brony is gender neutral. Although I'm not going against anyone who calls themselves Pegasister, Bronette, Femare, etc. You're free to call yourself whatever you would like.

You are partially correct here. The term Brony is a portmanteau of bro and pony. However, over some time, it seems to have been re-defined. I don't know the entire history, but I'm guessing it was because the majority of the fans were, and I guess to some extent continue to be, male. So they went with "brony," but now, as DRD has pointed out in his post, it has been redefined simply to mean any adult fans of the show. Essentially any fans of the show out of the targeted demographic. So, I think it very much is a gender-neutral term now, but it didn't start off that way.

If I had to choose one of the other 3 options, I'd go with Pegasister, but only because it sounds catchy, and instead of "bro" it has "sis" in it. It's also a term I'm used to seeing for female fans that don't want to use the word "brony." I don't think I've seen the other two commonly used.

However, like all labels, including Brony, Pegasister, etc., by the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Regardless of our gender, or any other characteristics that define who we are as individuals, we are still fans of MLP:FiM and are united by that fact, and should embrace that, regardless of what label we choose to identify with.

Always toyed with the idea of just spelling it differently....

    Brony - Male
    Bronee/Bronie - Female

EDIT: Or BroNEIGH (lol.. Just got that one!)

    Idk just feels right :)

Brony -- Pegasister isn't used all that often, but I only use "brony" when directly asking if someone is one (as a fan of the show), otherwise I generally avoid using it. It's just a weird word to me, I guess.

I love the term "Pegasister", but I know it's not very commonplace and a few girls actually hate the term, so I feel bad for liking it.
