Avice watched silently, her eyebrow furrowing as she tried to make sense of what was unfolding in front of her. She had many unsure and mixed feelings, but knew what she observed in front of her was something terrible. She crossed her arms, nails digging into her arm in thought. She covered her mouth slightly, finding it difficult to watch. She glanced up at Jack, but most of her worry was for Natalia.
Jack's jaw was tight, and his words were a growl. "Okay," he said sharply. "Okay, she's done now. She's done your transmission. Open the door." The woman looked up at him for a moment, her head cocked with thought. Finally, she waved a hand, and the wall that had covered the doorway made a deep grinding noise before shifting out of the way. Jack walked into the Transmission room, where Natalia was still curled on the floor, her arms hugging herself. He knelt beside her, and lightly touched her back and she shuddered. "Oh my God, Jack," she whispered. "Oh my God." "I know, Nat. I know."
Avice stepped away, more towards the safety of a corner. She didn't want to say anything, and tried to keep out of the way, wringing her hands quietly. Her expression tried to seem calm, but she was curious and concerned. (Gonna wait for more people after this post.)
(Alrighty. Starlight?) Jade, watching with wide eyes, shook her head slowly. "I don't know how you can be okay after that," she said quietly. "I had no idea."
Jared couldn't help but feel remorse for Natalia. He pulled on his collar, uncomfortable, a single tear ran down his eye. He noticed this and wiped it away almost immediately. "Jesus wept..." He mumbled to himself.
Ellis said nothing, her arms crossed over her chest. Her hands clutched her arms tightly, but she said nothing, at a loss for words. "He killed our baby," Natalia said, her head still down, her voice full of despair. "He killed his own damn baby." Her voice seemed to get smaller as she spoke, as if in disbelief, and she forced herself to sit up. She looked as if she had aged centuries in only moments. Her face was deathly pale, emphasizing the dark circles under her tear-filled eyes. Her hands were trembling, and she held herself as if she were afraid that she would fly apart in broken pieces. The woman spoke up. "Well," she said. "Luckily, you have filled the transmission. We will not need a second trial. I'll have my three assistants guide you to your holding room, where we will fetch you when the time comes."
Avice looked up at the three assistants. She crossed her arms in annoyance, but held her tongue. It was like they didn't even care, even though this was helping both parties. She approached Ellia, a despondent look on her face. "It's terrible isn't it? I can't believe this could happen to someone... Especially at such a young age," she said slowly. "It's awful."
The assistants began to lead the way, completely silent and seeming to only communicate via glances. "Absolutely awful," Ellia agreed, looking troubled. "I don't know how you come back from something like that."
She sighed, looking to the ground. The thought of it didn't sit well with her. "I'm sure this ordeal didn't help. Now she had to reminded of it, and her entire crew knows. I honestly think looking away would have been the best option," she said quietly, kicking a small pebble.
Ellia frowned and looked over at the assistants in quiet contemplation. "You don't think..." she began, hesitating, "they wanted us to see? Like, for another test?"
"As another test?" she asked, looking at the assistants with suspicion, before lowering her voice. "I don't know. Honestly, I don't completely trust them. They look weird."
Ellia smiled, but it seemed weak. "Avice, you should know better than to judge people on their looks."
"I know, I know, but I still don't trust them. They just... They freak me out," she decided, glancing at Ellia for a moment. "And it's not just their looks. Well, it might, but something is strange."
"They do seem very emotionless," Ellia agreed quietly. "I suppose living for thousands of years will do that to you...?"
"Yeah. That, and some of them don't talk a lot. Hmm. I wonder if they need the sadness or anger from the test, just so they can feel something for once," she suggested.
Ellia shrugged helplessly, rubbing the back of her neck. "God. I think I'd rather feel nothing than what just happened."
Avice's gaze turned to the ground again. "Yeah, me too. I might just be against these people because they did that."
