Not only them, but four additional foals get a lot of screen time in this season ever since Lesson Zero, namely Ditzy, Alula, Noi and Piña Colada. Piña is even seen in the new intro. Speaking of whom, fanon received a nasty blow from this episode and its sisterly pairs. I guess Carrot Top (I refuse to call her Golden Harvest) + Noi and Cloud Kicker + Alula went mostly unnoticed. Berry Punch having Piña Colada as her little sister instead of Berry Pinch as her daughter came as quite some surprise, but they go together pretty well, also due to their fan names. Last but not least, what probably surprised bronies the most was that Dinky got a big sister, namely Sparkler. This pretty much excludes the possibility that Dinky is Ditzy Doo's daughter altogether. Ditzy Doo entered the Best Young Flyer Competition (Sonic Rainboom) as #15, Sparkler led the animal team at the Winter Wrap-up (in the episode with the same title). I could also mention that both appear in flashbacks in The Cutie Mark Chronicles, but that'd go too far. At least I hope that this episode will grant Sparkler a little popularity push, and that she gets well-known enough that questions like "Who's that purple unicorn", "Is that Seafoam" or "Who in the hay is that Sparkler you're speaking of" will grow less frequent.
The time is 9:00 AM in Littleroot town. Professor Birch has been graced with a visit from his colleague from the Kalos region, Professor Sycamore, and at Sycamore's request several Pokedex's will be given out to several 10 year olds, that come to get them. At 10:00 am the lab will be swarmed by hopeful children who all want a chance to go on an adventure like the many famed pokedex wielders from around the world. There is only 1 hour till you need to get to the lab, so get your things together, adventure awaits you today... adventure, greater than you could ever imagine! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hallia was sitting on Absol's back, resting her head on his, nearly asleep. "It's too early... I wanna sleep again!" Absol nodded gently, and continued walking slowly in the direction of the lab. "Mom said I wasn't ready to go out on my own. She might have been right..." She yawned then shook her head as she bolted upright. "No. I am so ready. Especially with you at my side Abby!" Absol seemed to grumble slightly at the nickname.
"Hoenn, lets hope my dads good words for this place are true. Ready, Pippy" the female Piplup just replied in a happy excited tone before Jennifer rented a bike for the rest of her trip. She then lent down so Pippy could get off her shoulder and into the bikes basket. They then both set off for the 45 minute journey to the professors lab.
The large Tropius landed. "Alright, head back to mom. I'll be fine." he said to the plant dinosaur, patting it softly on the neck. It flew off, with a nod. Oliver made his way to the door and began to push the door, not realizing that the door was pull operated.
(I just realized, robin, this is hoenn, not sinnoh) Absol turned a corner and Hallia saw Oliver struggling with a door. She smiled and giggled into her hand. "HEY! KID! You should try the other way!" She shouted at him and nudged Absol to speed up to him. Absol roared and jumped, seemingly flying to the entrance of the building Oliver was at.
After 40 minutes Jennifer arrived. As she turned the corner the bike launched a ton of dirt in the direction of Oliver and Hallia. "Oops, sorry. "
Oliver buried his face in his hands. "Duh!" he exclaimed. "Why didn't I think of that." he pulled the door open. "So you're hear to go on a journey, too?" he asked, walking inside.
"Blagh!" Hallia was knocked off of Absol by the dirt and fell onto the ground on her back. "Owwww..." Absol growled angrily as it shook the dirt from it's face. It's eyes glowed red and it stared at Jennifer. Hallia quickly stood up. "No, Absol! I'm sure it was an accident!" "Youngster Hallia has challenged Youngster Jennifer to a battle!" "No! No I didn't! Ah damn..." Absol growled slightly and Hallia slapped her forehead.
Oliver cringed, as the dirt hit him. He removed the Premier Ball from his belt and threw it in the air. "A-Aron! After these two dames are done battlin', we're gonna get our dignity back!" Oliver cried out.
Jennifer also facepalmed. "Really, It was a god damn incident. If you want to challenge someone challenge the government. They were the ones who haven't paved over the dirt roads. Also if we have too, cant it wait till after we get the pokedex's, It starts in like 5 minutes." Piplup jumped from the basket onto the handlebars and climbed down. She then let out an annoyed tone but the tone changed after Pippy looked up at the large Disaster pokemon. The annoyed grunt changed to one of terror; pippy then looked up and simply let out "Piplup Pi
"Fine. But mark my words, the great Pokemon breeder Oliver will have his dignity back!" Oliver said, "And-" he paused, noticing his Aron, which was eating the metal sign outside the lab. "Aron! Spit that out, right now!" he cried.
Jennifer laughed at Olivers lack of control over Aron. Her Kalon accent shone through clearer than before. "And they say Piplups are hard to bond with and control. .though maybe thats down to them being mostly males. Pippy here is one of the rare female Piplups only 12.5% are of the better gender." She spoke the last sentence in a non serious jokey tone.
"Well... I'm glad that worked... Normally when you lock eyes with someone it's an automatic battle... No control... I guess we're immune for now? Weird..." Hallia looked at the terrified piplup and the aron, and then turned to Absol. "Well... It seems we're the only three here so far. Maybe we should enter before more kids show up?" ((it works like in the games, lock eyes with trainer and you have to battle, no saying no. I'll let it slide, because this is basically pre-game-play so...))
"Right." Oliver said, mounting his Aron, gripping it's iron spike. "March, mister. I'm kinda steamed." The Aron nodded, and quickly waddled into the laboratory, unaffected by Oliver's weight.
Hallia stared at Oliver riding the foot tall pokemon and burst out laughing, before quickly covering her mouth. "Oh my gosh..." She covered her face which was glowing bright red and walked in behind Oliver, followed by Absol.
"No... No... Just... that's a really small pokemon, and I couldn't help but laugh... which is inappropriate in such a public setting with people whose names I don't even know..." She let out an exasperated breath and Absol nudged her shoulder.
Jennifer simply walked in noticing there was about 10 or so other Pokemon trainers. Some with a Pokemon, some without.
