"Well, okay." Marina sighs. "My whole..... life, really begins with my sister. When we were little, we would go swimming in the watering hole near our house. Soon, the water grew polluted. I stopped swimming there, but my sister didn't. One time she swallowed too much water, and she... she stopped moving. I tried to drag her out of the water, but she was too big for me to lift. I ran home to get our parents. We took her to the hospital but.. it was too late." Marina chokes, trying not to cry.
"I'm sorry if I brought up something uncomfortable for you to talk about," says Rashall looking away.
A slight smile plays across Rashall's face, "Well if you say so," he says at last wondering what to do now.
Marina takes a deep breath. "Well, after that I moved away from home. I realized I could talk to fish and other swimming creatures, so I eventually got my cutie mark. A while afterwards I went out to this beach on a sand wall. It was high tide, so the water almost touched my hooves. Suddenly, I saw my sister's head come up out of the water. I was so shocked and confused. I reached down and hugged her, but she pulled me under. I tried to swim away, but I was surrounded by these, these creatures. They call themselves 'sea creatures'. Heh, ironic in a way. They had holes all through their bodies, even in their fish-like tails." Marina shuddered, as if reliving a nightmare.
Marina closes her eyes and continues. "Well, the began yelling and making these strange growling noises. I heard the words 'Queen' and 'Mermare'. They began to bite me, mostly getting my neck, ears, and back legs. I wasn't bleeding though. I blacked out. When I woke up, I was tangled in seaweed. I had a long tail." At this Marina lifted her tail above the water. "After waking up, the creatures came back. I was terrified. But they didn't attack me, they just backed away when I told them to. From then on they treated me like a queen or something. I finally was able to get back on land for short periods of time. I searched about the Mermare, which was what they called me. I found out that the Mermare was supposed to keep the balance in the seas and oceans. I felt terrible because all of the sea life depended on me. Eventually I got used to it, because not much happens out here. And, yeah, well. Here I am now."
"A very interesting story you got there. I doubt if you would believe my lineage at all," says Rashall.
"As you know my name is Rashall Firemane what you don't know is that I'm next in line for the throne of a neighboring country," says Rashall.
"Yes my parents where the High Lord and High Lady of the land of Nekar, more specifically the Eldar. Basically they were the Emperor and Empress of the Eldar and I am their son," says Rashall with a distant look on his face.
