He rested his head on the pillow, closing his eyes. "I'm so glad you're back..." he murmured quietly.
His eyes opened and he raised an eyebrow. "Only you would apologize for getting kidnapped. Don't worry, Cal."
She blinked, looking up at him and sitting up as well. "I told you that in the note that I left you."
"I told you I wanted to figure out what happened.. To help understand why the Ortus was messed with." She frowned, pulling her knees to her chest self consciously. "I can take care of myself."
"You clearly can't," he replied sharply, sounding irritated. "If you think that you can just go into an entire kingdom that wants you dead with a prisoner who will manipulate and cloud your judgement, then you do not have the capability to take care of yourself. You're not even able to use your magyck when you're frightened, Calliope!"
He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Let me get this straight. You took magyck advice from your enemy?!"
"Ben isn't my enemy," she told him. She felt.. upset, but didn't want to show it. "He's my friend. He's the reason I escaped."
He rolled his eyes, standing up fully. "You can't just trust them that easily, Calliope," he said sharply, heading for the door. "None of them are to be trusted."
He shook his head, his gestures sharp and unfamiliar. "Go to sleep, Calliope. We'll talk in the morning."
