Standby says hello...

Greetings, fillies and gentlecolts.

My name is Standby - I am new to the 'herd', as it is known.

The first interests I had for My Little Pony had come from the television show, "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic", which I viewed occasionally on Youtube.

I had heard prior to doing so that it was an excellent example of animation and came from the same minds behind The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, two shows that I had enjoyed very much.

Being greatly accepting and appreciative of most every form of animation, I decided to give it a shot.

No one had introduced me to the program and I came about it of my own free will about one month ago, before finally settling on the fan community and its participants.

It did not take long for the show to grow on me and before I realized it, I became a supporter of the show and its fandom - possibly one of the more engaging ones I have seen on the Internet.

I admired the show for its excellent presentation and ability to keep my interest despite belonging to the periphery demographic and one that is unlikely to show any interest in anything pony-related.

At the time I had discovered it, many troubling things were happening in my life and the show and community felt like an acceptable break from those negative thoughts and events.

I would not consider myself a hardcore pony fanatic, but I may elect to be considered a 'brony' in these circles.

However at the point one creates their own OC pony and begins to read fics and look at fan-art, that person must consider their place in the fandom - maybe I'll find that place here.



"Who is Standby? Why is he here?"

Standby is a teal-colored male unicorn with a white mane and gold eyes. His mane and tail were originally a light shade of aquamarine, but it had turned white from shock after a particularly distressing incident.

Standby's cutie mark is that of a wrench morphing into a lightning bolt that is striking through a gear.

Standby is in Ponyville on "personal matters" and has settled in, despite knowing nopony in town.

Alone for most of his life, he now feels the sting of isolation and the pressure to find others who may share an audience with him. Perhaps he can learn the magic of friendship for himself.
