I'm seeing fairly mixed responses to Starlight's inclusion in the main cast, so I'm curious to see what folks here think of her.
There are only so many stories you can tell with the same characters. I like the fact there is a new character that can be taught what the others have learned while at the same time teaching them new things.
Even with her terrible backstory, I have less a problem with her than I do with the writers who are supposed to bring her character to life.
Bon Bon has a better backstory than Starlight Glimmer and it was told in all of about 2 minutes. I'm all for telling stories with new characters, but give us characters we can get behind and like. Don't shove them down our throat and tell us to like them. We can decide who we like and who we don't like on our own.
