So yeah, how long are you guys planning to keep this site closed? Just so you know, this is literally the worst possible solution to a troll problem. You're screwing up your own site, and that's exactly what they want. Right now you're doing more damage than they are. Like a child crying over nothing (which is kind of what trolls are really), you just need to let them tire themselves out. Pushing him out of the house and closing the door is bad parenting.
As long as they want to. I think you need to relax a little bit and not be so sharp. I've passed along my own suggestions to administration to try instead of blocking all registrations (which I agree is not really the way they should deal with one person). Even manually accepting new users for a bit would be better imo, but it's not my call nor your place to keep prodding the way you are now. Sent from my XT1080M using Tapatalk
mike406 - I understand you guys are doing the best you can, but the "Know your place" argument is a bit rude. We insignificant rabble care about the site just as much as the Mighty Mods.
To which I say the thread will be updated when something of importance changes again. Simple. It's also a bit rude to nit pick everything staff does and keep trying to advise them of how to do their jobs. Sent from my XT1080M using Tapatalk
Pretty much. I'm only offering my experienced insight on how you could better deal with situations like this. I remember a time when all advice and criticism was welcome instead of telling people to "shut the hell up" in the friendliest way possible. The site has never been closed over something as simple and idiotic as this, so as a member i have the right to voice my concerns about a choice like this. And as a staff member, you guys should have the decency to at least give a straight answer. Even saying "We'll post an update eventually" is much better than telling people to back off. I'm sure it wasn't your intention, Mike. But that was downright rude...
I've never been good at wording important stuff, you know that. I've always been blunt and straight forward, but i've never been dishonest about anything.
Alright I'll apologize for my previous words. However when you say the site is being screwed that just seems as a bit of an overreaction. That's all I was getting at really. I'm blunt too, as you can see. Kiss kiss hug hug. Sent from my XT1080M using Tapatalk
Perhaps it'd be better to just make a post on staff suggestion guidelines then or something, rather than fill a thread with this? While it's good and dandy to have this discussion, mayhaps somewhere different is best. I mean, come on guys. Don't make the mistakes I made. Being a jerk about stuff to staff won't really get much done. Just makes you look bad in the end.
I don't know. I think the issues isn't with being a jerk or being polite. It's more about volume and content density. An off hand remark, nice or no, is easy to ignore. However, a small essay on the matter, perhaps a video, and maybe a few members banding together to get the message across? That's honestly hard to ignore. At that point it doesn't matter if the contents is complete bull, or even if the contents is pure brotherly love. You still notice.
No one asked for that, you don't have to exaggerate just because Rarit gave advice. I said the exact same thing without the detail, before the site registration was closed, generally the better decision would have been to just keep getting rid of [Problem User Here] instead of blocking out the chance for potentially great people to join. I'm sure the staff can take a perfectly respectful bit of advice, it happened to be on the right thread too, so I don't see why whatever caused Rarit to get the bad side of things. If anything, he did a perfectly normal thing. I'm sorry if I seem like I'm acting like a douche, but the fact is Rarit/no one has done anything wrong in this thread. That's blatantly clear. I just wanted to point that out.
Registration will be re-opened about an hour from now. This thread will now be closed as per request by administration.
