The Christmas Basket It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, eeeeverywhere you go.... It's that time of the year once more. The harsh winter nips at our nose, the ground has frozen, the leaves on the trees are long gone and every product you can see has a snowman, Father Christmas or a reindeer plastered on it somewhere. Even Iron Brew! Anyway, we like to try and raise a giving spirit this season. Invoke a little joy with a few decent gifts going in all different directions, which is where I present The Christmas Basket. The idea is simple. You hand in a gift of some kind to the Everypony Team. This is added to a steadily growing basket of presents and then on Wednesday, 18th of December, we distribute each and every gift to every pony that added one in. We wanted to come up with a way of ensuring that every member that enters received something in return. So, we ask that you must have a gift to give ready and waiting before you enter. Any questions or suggestions, please give them in here. For now, get thinking on what to give.
Blind bags and boxes are some of the greatest gifts you can give, they are present INSIDE of a present! Now when do we get shipping instructions? The longer I wait to do something the less likely it is for me to do it so I want to get on this also before I spend all that cool cash EA had to send me from that class action lawsuit hehe.
Anything really. As long as you are capable of creating a gift, it'll be added to the Basket and we'll mix it around. We'll even add in a few bits for anypony left without for whatever reason. If it's a physical object like a Blind Bag, then we'll have to take note of it and ask you to handle things like postage and packaging for whoever your gift is going to. Thank you. Shipping details are likely to come in a few days before the cut off date so that they have some time to arrive.
Oh jeez, don't get me started on the Irn Bru adverts, I swear, they begin to litter all over Scottish TV at an alarming rate. Then you wished they were all over.
England has nothing like it. Iron Brew is the cheap alternative to Coke and Pepsi and hasn't had much in the way of adverts in years.
so basicly i can like put whatever i think is a good idea as a gift? could it be a draw for the radio staff? i would like to do that.... no, seriously this time
Essentially you put whatever you want into the basket. If you want to make a gift specific for somebody, send it to them yourselves; this is more of a general-purpose gift-basket rather than a 'Give it to someone else' thing like the Secret Santa thing was.
I'm slightly confused. The gifts added to this "christmas basket" are distributed randomly right, among those who participated? Because that's the point, that everyone who gave something will get something in return. If you're accepting physical gifts, you can't guarantee the intended recipient will even be participating in giving a gift. Unless I'm missing something blatantly obvious here, it doesn't make sense outside collecting a pool of virtual gifts.
I think what Tyro is saying all those who want to send a gift, must send it to Tyro (or whoever the staff chooses), and after a certain date, all the received gifts will be sent to one of the others. Essentially, it's the same as Secret Santa, except this time the staff has more control over who sends and receives gifts to make sure gifts are actually sent and received properly. Not sure if that makes any more sense.
Right, okay. That's probably what he meant. I guess I wasn't really thinking straight. The "for whoever your gift is going to" just seemed a bit contradictory.
Right on it! Thanks guys! Only one question: is it allowed to contribute more than one gift? I mean, just in case someone gets a creativity-flash or somethin`... ;-D See y`all around!
This is a much better way than it was the last 2 years but it seems that there will have to be an even number of gifts to hand out but that should easily be resolved by staff. So if I want a gift I would have to give a gift. I don't know if I can make anything this year but if I do I'll be sure to send it in.
What if hypothetically, someone makes a Dean Winchester drawing for example. It's then put into this basket and will then later go to a random person. In a way that sounds weird to me. Or maybe they draw an OC for a person that doesn't even join in. Like what if someone drew Sonic Bluefire's OC or Affections. Who would that go to? just some random person? Or what if someone puts in multiple presents? Or what if it was a picture of a iguana or a platypus? Because if this is true it certainly sounds much more entertaining then before. Though it leaves me confused. What if the gift is suggestive in nature?
Pretty sure that last one would just get revoked or something. Also, I'm pretty sure the point of this is to secret santa someone a brick over the internet.
I think you know what happens if it's suggestive Echo. Anyways, drawing someone's OC would be a personal gift and this isn't a personal gift thing. What should be entered are general gifts that most people would like, like for example a drawing of Twilight and a Christmas Tree and the message "Merry Christmas" or something along those lines.
This is really why I don't like this very much, but it makes sure that everyone who participates gets a gift, so... To be honest, I'm not going to be surprised if this doesn't have a high turnout rate though. There's no sense of obligation like there was the past two years. Granted, that didn't stop the people who signed up from not giving/getting gifts, but we can blame that on a majority of users leaving before it ended. I probably should have gone through with the idea of 'at least here for 2 months/100 posts or something.' Wanted to keep it fair, though. So that one's on me.
Hang on. Why not draw a whole image with a character unfinished and offer up a choice of character within that image? I've seen some artists do the same thing and auction off the position.
