Darkness greeted her when she awoke. She looked around, trying to comprehend where she was, but that would be impossible. She is no where.
Charlie stretched her legs like she had just gotten out of bed but instead of warm sheets, she felt the cold bitter feel of darkness. Charlie got up in a panic and scanned everywhere, she could tell if she was blind or just haven't woken up yet. "Hello?" Her soft voice echoed.
Stardust was terribly afraid. Her cyan body shook with fear, sending her snow-white locks cascading past her shoulders. Her bright blue eyes moistened from the terrible cruelty, and she began to cry.
Charlie cautiously stepped forward and found some sort of solid mass beneath her. Charlie squinted her eyes trying to find anything helpful
A lantern laid at Charlie's feet, suddenly lighting up. The flame seemed to be trying to point her in the other direction. The dim light flickered, but did not go out.
"What the?" Charlie picked the lantern up and followed the small flicker. She had no idea where she was going but something told her to go anyways.
Soon, she found a small clearing. The lantern's light grew in brightness until in was unbearably bright, then it put itself out and vanished. A quivering form lay in front of Charlie, and when she listened closely, she heard crying.
Stardust jumped at Charlie's soothing voice, then cowered at her hooves. Quietly, she begged for her life, "Please... don't h-hurt me... p-please..."
Charlie cocked her head to the side, "Hurt you? Hun, I don't even hit a fly" Charlie was a little offended. Charlie was smaller then most mares her age and she didn't think she looked the violent type.
Stardust looked up, and her face brightened, "Oh! I-I'm sorry, I thought you were another one of those monsters!" She pawed at the ground, "M-my names Stardust... can I stay with you? I-I'm really s-scared of this place..." She gazed up at Charlie with a pleading look, begging her to say yes. Unbeknownst to either of them, a vicious, red-eyed beast was hungrily stalking them. It bared it's fangs, then slunk away, undetected.
"Th-thank you... Miss?" Stardust asked politely, but she avoided looking at Charlie, eye-to-eye, like she was afraid of what would happen if she did.
"Wha-? No! I-I mean, no... I-I don't..." Stardust was obviously hiding something, and either some comfort or intimidation would bring the truth out of the weak little mare, *snap* just like that...
Stardust clung to Charlie fearfully, "W-we're in th-the Void... a place where we'll b-be hunted for an eternity by the Shadows..." She buried her face in Charlie's chest and cried. A loud roar was heard echoing all around them, and it seemed to come from a few dozen meters behind Charlie. The loud thumping footsteps indicated it was... running... towards them!
Charlie froze at the random hug then heard the loud thumping, "We.. need to go." Charlie closed her eyes and the emerald necklace around her neck began to glow. A sudden force formed around them like a protective bubble and Charlie finally opened her eyes.
Stardust clung to her even tighter and whimpered when an enormous, wickedly-clawed foot dropped onto the bubble. The piercing white eyes of the creature, all twelve of them, displayed an evil intelligence and cunning beyond that of comprehension. Another clawed appendage wrapped around the energy bubble and squeezed. Fine cracks began to appear in the bubble, and were growing in size...
Charlie focused again and managed to teleport them out of the bubble and aways from the monster, 'RUN!" she yelled and took off with Star close behind.
