I am irked by people claiming that the swastika is a Hindu symbol. Why?

The Nazi Symbol is always at a 45 degree angle. The various MILITARY symbols are in fact swastikas, but not the symbol itself.

This is a thing.

 

The symbol has been found in various places outside of Nazi Germany, even Africa.

 

Even old pagans used it, actually. Although, wiccans now-a-days avoid it, usually, because of the innate feeling most get when seeing it.

 

I express no outward opinions, but I, for one, HATE religious zealots. Yes, I'm an atheist. No, 'God' won't forgive me, for he doesn't exist. No, I'm not gay. No, I'm not stupid. Will you leave me alone? No? You insist on following me around blackmailing me to believe in one being who just made everything in seven days?
So far, it's only been Christian's who've done this to me, but that pisses me off even more. You mean to tell me that Jesus spent his ENTIRE LIFE telling everyone to do the exact opposite, I repeat, the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you're doing, yet you still do it? Come on.

Don't normally rant but this really irked me.

I was in a discussion with a couple of people on Skype about religion. It was going alright considering one of them was Christian and the other was Islamic. With me believing in the ideology of Agnosticism it was a pretty interesting debate. However tempers where getting high and I just ended up trying to keep the peace which did not work out well. Now the thing that I ask is why can't people have a debate about a topic without it turning into an anger-fest? Is it really that hard to keep ones emotions in check...

 

With all the rants involving Christians I've noticed on this forum, I feel the need to apoligize to you all due to the more aggressive, failed attemp's at christains. Not all of them seem to realize that Religon has one thing in common with brony's: Your not going to get people to join your group by shoving your beliefs down others throats {Or tv show, in the case of the more obbsessive brony's}.

But yeah, I do realize that their are other religons out their, and I respect everyone's views. Sorry for any inconveinices that other members of christianity have caused any of you.

 

Marston you have no reason to apologize. I judge the individuals not the whole group. You don't need to as sorry for something you didn't do.

This. Thank you Dan. People at my job still doodle them on the walls of the bathroom and they never tilt it or flip it. If your gonna hate get it right. ( remember i work with a workforce of guys that are between the ages of 18 and 60+ when do people grow up again)

 

Gather round mares and gentlecolts, I'm about to whine like a little foal about a lot of junk.

1) My job. The people that shop at this store have to be the dumbest people on the planet. A women asked me where the price scanner was, she was standing right next to the pole with the scanner on it. If she can't even see this scanner it worries me that she's on the road driving. Only a matter of time before she probably hits a car.

And those people that come into the store in a duck suit. This happens a couple times a year. I hate this person or people. I have no clue how many do it. It's not funny or random or cool, it makes you and your friends look stupid. You figure they'd have a better use of there time on a friday night. On that note, why do all the high school kids come into wal mart during the week end. Is there really nothing better for them to do, read a book, play a game, get drunk, just stay away for me while I work.

Now for my co workers. They act like 5th graders. I have never seen a 60 year old man gossip about junk until I started here. I can't wait till another passive aggressive fight starts again. It will at least offer some entertainment.

Radios, a nice source of music not offered by the store. If you decide to blast toby keiths red solo cup to half the store don't get mad when I play Tombstone at the same volume. Still on the music topic, if you play religious music, then you can't complain about me playing anti religious music. There are a lot of people in the store. Not all of us wanna hear about jesus.

Pallet jacks, if you have a light department you don't need one of the good jacks. I have heavy stuff, pulling my stuff around with a bad jack increases the amount of force and energy I have to use to move it.

2) Me, art and artists

When I first took up drawing it was for the purpose of making covers for my music. That changed though, I found drawing more fun then putting random notes on a piano roll hoping they'd sound good. I'm not sure what has changed from when I made that first Trixie drawing to now. Could it be the false praise, the lack of real criticism and critques. I have no clue, I remember that first drawing, I was overwhelmingly proud of it. I showed it to my brother, he's ben drawing 2 years longer then me. He crushed that drawing,pointed out everything that looked horrible, he held nothing back. Second drawing was platinum, again he crushed it, pointed out all the wrongs. He's done this with a lot of my pictures. Until a few months ago, he didn't have time to mock them, he was working on his own stuff.

Heres where I think the issue starts. I started comparing me to slug and swaet shirt. I love both of their styles. Though at the same time I was uploading pictures to my DA. The pictures my brother destroyed were praised. Pictures a did just for practice got more praise then the ones I spent time on. I always believed that art was best when made with care, time, devotion and joy. If I liked what I was doing then others would aswell. I guess that is a lie. I know a lot of artist say" I draw for fun not views" I was the same way, but that's a lie. What's the point of making something no one will see. I'm not even sure what point I was trying to make. I guess it's that I hate people giving me false confidence over pictures they know suck, they're just to nice to say anything different, in case they'd hurt my feelings.

I feel like quiting art, it only causes me stress and anger now. Every pose I try ends up looking like a mess. If I owe you a picture sorry but you'll never get it. The pictures I worked on during my livestream will never see the light of day. I won't livestream again.

I could go on, but I see on point. My battery is almost dead and I highly doubt anyone will check this thread.

I did. I read it all. And I thank you for sharing it with us, Pixel. I'm afraid I can't think of how to help, but I, and of course Xan, are here for you.

 

My personal rant? The use of *squee!*got/gay to describe something bad. It just irritates me that nobody really cares that what they're saying actually hurts people. The word *squee!*got is the worst. Any other slur about things like race or religion are frowned upon by society, so I don't understand why sexuality should be any different. Having a word that describes you be a synonym for stupid or bad actually sucks, a lot. The more you hear it, the more you start pairing yourself with anything negative. You eventually feel like there's something wrong with you, that you're the one with the problem.

Nothing personal, I just hate seeing people who are intolerant. Especially in a fandom that preaches love and tolerance. But then again, who cares about a bunch of homos. Its not like we're people or anything.

 

@Pixel, I have nothing to say. Whats the point of saying anything when its just going to be ignored or retorted aggressively. We both know thats what would happen, and don't say otherwise.

You make a very valid point, which, I will admit, fall under such a category. I'm sorry for bringing up pathetic excuses, but I attended a guys only school for 5 years, which, in itself, comes off to the immature as homosexual. Now in this school, you really have to watch yourself or you will be branded as gay for a long time, being constantly be made fun of. At the school, I knew one gay and one bisexual, both of which went through hell...
In such an environment, it was pretty much smashed into my nonexistent brain that gay was bad, which leads into sexual insecurities doesn't it?
I, myself, have used such terms in strong derogatory ways many a time, which, coming from me, is quite horrendous, considering I'm bi. I feel ever so guilty about it and have pretty much entirely stopped it, but that would be because of not talking to anyone anymore. About 150 words I utter a day.

Nowadays, I often act extremely homosexual in a more amusing manner, since all my friends are pretty confident that I'm straight, so they don't feel so uncomfortable. I find it kinda funny seeing peoples reactions.

As for my rant....

Ignore? Never. Retorted aggressively, probably. I'm glad others besides me see that. I never even expected you to reply because of that lie. Which was supposed to avoid this. I figured if I'd reapeat the lie enough I'd believe it's the truth.It's just a shame I have no willpower to stop me from posting. I caved into myself and made a new mess.

Remember that whole change thing. It worked in the wrong way, shame I couldn't leave well enough alone.

Hello hello hello. ^^ Quite a few interesting rants going on in here. ~sits on haunches and stokes the fire that Pixel had started~ Alright. I'll continue this story that of which the great Pixel has began because well... I have nothing better to do at the moment. ~laughs~ So anyways....... [Que epic transition to story]


Art: WOW do I have a lot of complaints about art. Like... My Celestia. The amount of bull's dung that happens with it and is caused from it is ridiculous. So many arguments are had on what it is that makes good art good and what it is that makes somepony want to just send themselves to the moon because they don't think they're good. First I'd like to say that there are three kinds of artists out there. The skilled, the not so skilled, and the ones that totally give up because they fall under the pressure of the constant downing around them because they really didn't truly give it a try.

Alright... Sooo... There are a few of these that have popped up in the brony community. Not just art, but many many MANY-MANY-MANY-MANY other great ponies that have been noticed for other talents besides art, but for now, we're on the drawings. :derpe: SO! Onward! My rant about some of these ponies is that they get such a massive ego, that it's ridiculous. I've seen some where they weren't even that great (To me) and yet still manage to grow a head the size of Celestia's flank. BUT! Likewise. I've seen ponies out there that are doing it right. They don't go around and gloat about things everywhere or self loath the heck out of themselves EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THEY ARE GOOD! Speaking of that last part, it's not only in artists (brony and outside of bronydom) but also the other many talented out there. There's being modest, and there's being modest for the sake so you get attention. Stop it... Yah jerks. Jees! >8U

Now... It may be wrong of me to call them names, but if you're reading this and are like THIS then you know who you are and I am telling you to stop being such a jerk! I believe in politeness and everything, but there's a fine line of getting praise, and taking advantage of others' praise. And as a brony, I am torn between my own morals of expressing praise for somepony that really deserves it, and then those that are doing it JUST TO GET ATTENTION and it not being right for them to do that!!! And sometimes it's very easy to notice those that take advantage, but obviously because I would think it to be my own opinion, I wouldn't say it out loud as to not "spread rumors". Which spreading rumors is something I do not do. Anywho... Back to the ranting topic. :derpe:

Regarding you ponies that give up on things because you think you're not good or because others have said you suck or should give up. You shouldn't give up. That's just ridiculous. It's like giving up walking from where you are now to somewhere you always wanted to be. It's there, you can see it, it's just a whiles away. If you listened to someone telling you that you won't make it, then heck... Don't try and do it, but listen to others that tell you to keep going. I'm obviously kidding there, but my point is, is that you aren't going to be able to do ANYTHING unless you are able to tell yourself that you can. Sure you can look at it reasonably, but logically speaking, you're VERY capable of doing anything. It just depends on your will to do it. See a mountain; depending on how you view that mountain, you might be able to scale it and plant that flag up on top LIKE A BAWSE! 8U But... If you see it as just a mountain and your will is as far as just looking at it... Then of course you won't be able to scale the mountain, because your will and want isn't high enough. I guess... Essentially, you're just being lazy.

Oh! Another thing regarding art. You ponies that complain about not having a tablet... ~puts a hoof over your mouth~ Shoosh. No more complaining. I drew all the time before I had a tablet, then when I finally got enough money to buy one, I bucking did! It's called make the best of what you got and playing My Little Magiver till you actually CAN get the thing that of which you want. Now this does actually apply to pretty much anything in life, but it is also more suited towards the issue of not having a tablet and actually having one.

Now... I am an artist brony in more than one medium. I draw, play music, sing, RP, write, and on occasion, I love to Philosophize. (Because it's fun. :derpe: ) BUT! I don't think I'm all that great in any of these, granted, I believe I'm a little decent, but I don't stop because some ponies have told me to stop. I've just been keeping at them. When I first started all of these things, I wasn't the greatest of ANY of them. Nor am I today mind you, but still. I'm not so good. BUT! I have been improving myself more and more based off of what others have said, and what I personally think I've done. I sometimes surprise myself with drawings, but then see one of the better artists and am like. "Well now... There's is better, but mine isn't half bad either." If you're going to compare your art to another (Which you shouldn't mind you), measure the distance you are to getting great, rather than the distance you are from being just like them. No matter how much you try, you're not going to be just like them. That's a fact. When you look at somepony's art, there are things that flow through that thing in your head I like to agree with that they call the liver... No wait...... Yeah, the liver. Well... I like to think of it as a liver anyways. Seeing as how you should use your brain to absorb info, but be able to filter out the toxins. You know. The hate from around you and the hate that comes from within. That self doubt can be an issue, but don't let it consume you... or others for that matter. Just keep at it and don't let others or yourself get you down.

Also. I do art, music, sing, etc for the enjoyment of doing it. Yes I like it when others say my whatever is good, as a matter of fact, that just makes me want to do it more, but I don't let that be my driving force. Recognition is always good and fun, but I'm driven by my own will. On. This. Note... If you are posting your art or whatever online or sharing it with ANYPONY, then you are doing it for praise. And this is alright actually. Nothing wrong with wanting praise, afterall, we all love being appreciated. As do I. Which is a reason as to why I PUT my art online because it's nice for somepony to say it's nice. Though I appreciate both kinds of criticism, the ones that I appreciate the most are the constructive criticism because of obvious reasons that I really shouldn't have to get into. Now... This brings up the argument: What you think is good VS the public's view. If you post your work online... there's a horrible truth as to why things do and don't happen.

First I'd like to say with a blunt lightsaber; don't put your stuff online for the masses to see if you can't accept somepony saying it's bad or is straight crap. I hate to break it to you, but there are mean ponies out there that aren't very nice. If they say, "What a load of [REDACTED!]." then don't take it personally and become super depressed. Sure it sucks that they said that, but it's not the ned of the world. Just shrug it off until you get some kind of constructive criticism.

Second; DON'T ignore constructive criticism because you think you already got it down, you already have a better way of doing it, you're stubborn, or you're just bucking lazy. THEY don't know what you did or whether you're already doing it. Sometimes they give bad feedback and you know a better way to do it. Don't be like, "HA! You're an idiot. I just do this!"... Really? What a jerk. No. Just let them know that there's a better wayto do it. And if they say you're way is stupid or they're being stubborn, then alright! GOOD FOR THEM! ... Just let them be. If they do, they do, if not, then alright.

I LOVE being told I'm also wrong in an argument, but I will try and be stubborn in my argument because I play the devil's advocate and always give reasons as to why your argument could be wrong. Makes my acceptance of your argument that much easier, and also to show how there's flaws in certain reasonings. Maybe you're close to it, but not quite right. I actually hate it when the other sees an argument as a victory. Those are the worst kind to me. Manely because they can't get over their ego and then start attacking you because they start taking it personal, but whatever.

Alright! Now that was Art! And a few other things that might have popped up due to relevance. ~COUGH~ So onto the next topic.


Now... Complaining. My gawd... Really? The time you spent complaining could have been spent actually TRYING to do what it is that you were complaining about. I'll admit that there are a LOT of things I can't do, but you know what I do? Instead of just complaining about it and hoping it magically fixes itself (because that's how the world works. ~snort-snort~/sarcasm), I actually go out and bucking try to fix it. "Oh look... That tree house looks complicated to build and... I'm just going to sit here and watch it. ~opens popcorn~ Yep... Any second now it's going to build itself... Aaaaaany second... now........ ~throws a rock at it~ Why won't you be built! Now I'm going to spend the rest of my time complaining about it! >:U" Ok... Granted some things you can complain about, but only those that of which you either didn't see coming, or were like WTF?!?! moments. But even then, the amount of time you spend on complaining should only be like... a second. If you step on a tac, you complain for a second and then take it out; but don't complain about it for five hours and then FINALLY take it out. Everypony's got problems. You're nopony special... Believe me.

Now, I could go on at how the ponies in places like Africa aren't as fortunate as us, but for some reason the problems of those with THAT much of an extreme don't matter because we here in America or that live in a cushy place, don't have it as bad... My OC's current expression right now COULDN'T POSSIBLY be saying "Seriously guys...?" any more than it already is. But for some reason some ponies actually see it this way, so I can only give another example. First of all... If you have the internet, you're not doing that bad. Second of all, YOU LIVE IN A WONDERFUL PLACE WHERE POSSIBILITY IS ENDLESS!!! Yet, the ONLY thing keeping you from making a change is yourself. Go figure huh? ~puts up a hoof to your mouth before you can say ANYTHING!~ NO! Shut it! Now don't you say a bucking word! Parents are no excuse. Granted some of their... Ehh... Ways of parenting are a bit extreme or not so great, you don't completely use what they say as an excuse. As a matter of fact, I've seen ponies arguing about some of the things their parents have been telling them and then they don't listen to them, and all it does is cause more problems... ~slow claps~ Congrats. Hooray for you going through something they tried to warn you about (And probably went through themselves) but you were too stubborn to listen. Yay... Ok. Now, some parents are wrong and their "old ways" don't work in such a more modern world that they aren't accustomed to. This is very understandable, but don't complain about them not knowing, SHOW them why they don't understand. Although, just because something your parents told you was wrong, DOESN'T mean that everything they say for the rest of their life is wrong. Let your brain be a liver, but don't let it go on autopilot.


Hmm... I rarely ever complain about things, but I was bored and felt like posting. :derpe: I'm very sleepy, but I felt like saying all this, so yeah. I'm sure I have more to post, but yeah... Sleep. lol I'm also sure I forgot to go more into detail onsome things, but eh. All above were entirely my opinions and should be taken as such.


Inb4 tl;dr.

 

Forgive me for the association, but to me, this thread excretes 4chan-ness in the amounts of pent up rage it releases. Tolerance works both ways, and I sometimes have to go as far as say that 4chan is my culture.
