It was the middle of the day, the sun was shining and birds were singing. Ponies happily strolled about their day, minding their business. Though somewhere, in a high clocktower in Canterlot, there was a dusty large wooden box that was big enough to hold a creature. The clocktower hadnt been visited in recent times, so cobwebs had been strung from ceiling and nooks. The large bell in the center swayed, ringing throughout the city. It shook tower with its vibrations, and slowly subsided into silence once more. Uglarinn
Frozen strode amongst the ponies of Canterlot, a monster in the guise of a mortal stallion. Aimlessly he wandered amongst a sea of ever changing faces. Mortals going about their daily lives, blessed in their transcience. Frozen had been wandering for hundreds of years, an exile without a home. Ever wandering, ever listless, seeking a cure for his eternal curse.
The mechanism in the crickety box was inert. Its cold, lifeless, dreary eyes stared at ahead. The clocktower was still and silent, although the jabbering ponies at the bottom were quite loud, their voices did not reach the skyscraper-like building.
Frozen often found himself standing within the shadow of the clocktower. Ancient, like him, it gave him a connection to a world that he had left behind long ago. Today he had resolved to climb it, to see Canterlot from atop the old tower. Thus, when nopony was looking, he slipped into the dusty interior of the abandoned building.
(She usually stands by the one who discovers her, and protects/helps they founder.) In the repudiated building, were many steps. They spiraled upwards, and ended in the small space at the top. There were a few boxes, old and dusty, along with the cabinet/wardrobe. Fortunately, the bell would not ring for at least another 30 minutes, saving the approaching being's ears. The boxes contained gears and such, if the clock were to break. Though one of the boxes held an old key, which would click into the machinery in the wardrobe to activate it.
Curious as to the nature of the device, Frozen used his magic to turn the key. Surely a quick peek couldn't hurt?
The wolf-like machine twitched slightly. Its once boring, dull eyes lit up. It smoothly turned to face him, and spoke with an expressionless face, "Hello." It barely moved it mouth, "Species, mixed." She said, as though guessing what he was, with his Wendigo core and pony exterior.
"F.R.E.E." Its spoke automatically with flat voice. "I am a Functioning Robotic Entity of Engineering." She was quiet for a moment, then piped up. "Species: Windigo."
A gasp escaped his lips as he backpedaled and nearly fell backwards. "What are you talking about? I'm not a Windigo!"
"I can assure you." She closed her mouth and cocked her head sideways. "Because I can sense it. Maybe a scan would show you." She seemed to be communicating with him perfectly fine, though her jaws were locked and closed. "Though I can only share this information with designated personnel. Which is you." She straightened and opened her mouth again. "You have found me, and now that means I will take heed to your every command."
"Information has been lost." Her eyes moved from left to right, as if reading something. "I am following those you hold the key." She looked at the key he used to revive her.
"Yes. I have been awoken by the one who holds the key. I am now bound to help and serve you." Her metallic body parts glinted in the sunlight.
The wolf pricked her ears. "The bell is to ring soon. Careful. Its quite loud." She warned lightly, and began walking down the steps.
Frozen took heed of this and kept his hooves close to his ears, waiting for the bell toll before descensing further down.
The large bell chimed, and it shook nearly the whole tower. Though the wolf didnt seem to be affected by the loud 'dings'.
"That doesn't bother you?" Frozen asked, honestly surprised the wolf wasn't affected. She might be a machine, but surely she had audio sensors?
