He looked down at her with a curious expression as they went back outside. "I guess. Let's just go look."
She nodded, taking his arm in something that seemed to be becoming a bit of a habit. “Okay. Lead the way.”
She shrugged a little, looking straight ahead again. "You told me that you'd hurt my family," she said quietly. "I don't think you'll be able to get back your hearthstone without me, and I don't want you to come back to my farm and threaten them again. It's better this way."
"So you must have assumed I was lying yesterday when I said I take back what I said about threatening them," he said coldly. "When I said that they didn't deserve to be threatened."
"I don't assume you were lying," she said uncertainly, pulling her cloak closer around herself. "But... I mean, just because you take it back doesn't mean you can't reinstitute it, Zer... And the bottom line is that you did threaten them. And me." She shook her head, stealing a quick glance up at him. "I don't think you have the right to be mad at me for being cautious."
He was quiet for a moment. "You should just stay at the camp once it's set up. I can go look for the clue myself. It's better that way."
Her whole face fell and she looked up at him. "C'mon, Zer... don't be like that. I still like you. I like your company. It's strategic, you know? I just gotta be careful."
