Ever since I downloaded Windows Movie Maker last week I've been having fun making fanedits of old cartoon movies. The idea is to make movie versions of multi-part episodes that were originally shown as movies but aren't available as such anymore and also to make movie versions of multi-part episodes that were never shown as movies but should have been. It's a lot of work (well, several hours worth, but I have a short attention span a lot of the time, so...), but the feeling of accomplishment I feel when I'm finished is totally worth the time I put into it. So far, I've done movie cuts of "Thundercats HO!", "As Told By Ginger: Season of Caprice" and a complete, uncut version of Disney's "Make Mine Music" that restores a segment that got cut from the DVD release. Currently, I'm looking at trying to make a movie out of the Dr. Doom episodes of Spider-Man '81 (I read somewhere that those episodes were originally intended to make up an animated feature, but that never happened, so they were spread throughout the show's run instead). The only problem I have is figuring out how to share them. I tried uploading the ATBG fanedit to youtube, but got popped for a copyright violation immediately (literally, my video never even showed up on the site due to being blocked worldwide mere seconds after the upload finished). I removed it, and it says my account is in good standing, but I don't want to try doing that again, lest a second offense get me permabanned. If anypony has any ideas, I'm all ears.
Like many people, I watched the election this week with great anticipation, waiting to see which direction our country would go. Like many people, I was greatly relieved when President Obama was re-elected for a second term. This election was about more than just Red States and Blue States. It was, for all intents and purposes, a battle for our national identity. In the last four years, conservative Republicans were nastier than they have ever been and I was truly afraid that a Romney win would encourage them to be even nastier than that. What happened on Tuesday was historic because, for the first time, all the minority groups that the Tea Party viewed with such disdain rose up as one to reject altogether the politics of fear and hate. Those of us working towards a lasting peace in this country have much to celebrate. We've got more work to do, but today, we are closer than we have ever been. So ignore those who would mourn "the death of America", for theirs is a dying breed. Let us move forward to a bright future where the founders' promise of Liberty And Justice For All might finally be accompished. And above all, let us always remember to Love and Tolerate even those who would not do so in return. Peace
I've been a Ninja Turtles fan since the original cartoon was on in the late 80s/early 90s. There's just something I love about the concept, and when I heard that Nickelodeon got ahold of it, I wasn't sure what to expect given their recent track record. I went in with an open mind and I'm pleased to report that they nailed it. The show is obviously made by folks who've been fans as long as I have because it has everything a fan would want to see while still doing something fresh with the material and making it accessible to kids who've never heard of the Turtles before. Each of the four Turtles gets their own little moments to shine throughout and I gotta say, it was great to hear Rob Paulson in the cast (although this time as Donatello rather than Raphael). The new take on April is interesting to say the least and I'll be curious to see where they go with it. I like how they introduced the Utroms (here called The Krang) and hearing Kevin Michael Richardson as The Shredder at the end was just awesome. All in all, I was very impressed and I look forward to following the series to see how the story unfolds. THUMBS UP! If you care, new episodes will air on Nickelodeon on Saturdays at 11AM.
