It not a question that has a easy answer. For most, it maybe a thing where life got in the way of the show and their desire to be fan. Maybe they are moving on to different things. Maybe they were badly affected by the toxic part of the fandom. Or maybe they just simply have no passion or care for MLP anymore. If they return for G5 is also unanswerable.
It's kinda sad to see. There's no gain in deactivating it because it won't undo their words. I guess they must have a reason. I've been on and off for YEARS ever since the radio was nuked off the face of EP and things lost their flavor, but I never really thought of having my account deactivated because I knew I'd visit sometimes. Even if I have no idea who's who because I was only involved with the Radio chat haha
I get you. Sometimes one just has to come back to recall better times. That's why I keep some of my unused accounts on several sites around. And at times I just go have a look. Recall some good things, maybe rescue a file or a link and leave it there as a time capsule.
That's why I don't get why people has the sudden urge to nuke their past. It changes nothing at the end of the day.
Yeah it's such a shame. I had to be there and do exactly that in 2008 when I was 10-11 and even though it was out of necessity (made lots of enemies with my name back then), I found myself slowly coming to terms with that era of mine over time. I started gravitating more and more towards that door I thought I had welded shut. I guess it was so long ago that I feel no shame or harm anymore in reminiscing anymore.
Yah. Someday I'll come in terms with my past, too.
I think I'll stay here. Hope you do too. Is a bit lonely, yeah, but peaceful too. Is weird. Good weird.
I used to lurk around once per year or so, but tbh ever since you joined, I've been opening this site more to check for replies and whatnot. Mainly still just lurking, but looking for a conversation to be started.
I really wish you could've experienced this place during its peak era, but at least the threads were left in place to serve as a reminder of the past. It's nice to go back and reminisce.
I was too dumb back then, staying around dA. Also, my relationship ate up all my time and energy. Probably it would have been better for me if I had just let the innevitable happen. I would have enjoyed the fandom a lot more, and even would have contributed something.
So, would you happen to know when did the forums became this innactive?
I'm not really sure because I only really visited the radio. I was a heavy lurker on the forums. After the radio got flooded by annoying kids circa 2013, I bailed. Then I found out that the radio was nuked when Winamp couldn't connect to it anymore, so I stopped visiting the site altogether. Maybe someone who's been around on the forum since 2013 could help you with it. I sadly can't answer, sorry :c
I would visit and interact with some of the regulars who used the radio occasionally. I joined this site in 2014, and it was pretty active back then for me. In 2018 (I think), activity became a little more sparse and eventually from then on, it slowly started to die out. I'm not sure as to why, likely it could be people's interests have changed and moved on to other things, and other stuff Poison mentioned.
As for users deactivating after not using their account for a long period time, to me it gives off the impression they have no use for this place anymore and don't have the desire of returning at all. Who knows, G5 might bring a little more life here.
Oh, maybe that's why your name was so familiar to me Dash! Maybe I've seen you on the radio chat before it was gone. Or on the forums while lurking at around the same time. It was so long ago, I can't remember properly.
