She paused, squinting at him. "I accept this."
He closed his eyes too, burying his nose in her hair.
"I can sleep on the couch. It's okay."
She was braced against him, and it seemed that his arms around her was the only thing keeping her from falling.
"You can't make me."
He gave her a grin, kissing her forehead. "I love you too, silly thing."
He frowned. "That isn't right. Is there a couch?"
Miraculously, Poppy was asleep standing up. Her head was tipped backwards against his shoulder and her lips were slightly parted.
"WE ARE WELCOME."
He kissed the top of her head, pulling her close.
He frowned, looking at her thoughtfully. "Uh... yeah. Probably."
"No!"
"We're welcome."
He exhaled slowly as he sat on the bed, lying back in the pillows.
"I'm not being thoughtful, though. I'm sorry."
"Not really!"
"Thank you."
He nodded, draping his long arm over her shoulder as they headed for the bedroom.
He started, looking over at her in surprise before shaking his head. "Sorry."
"You weren't! You were young!"
