Some time ago, a nuclear war had started between communist counties including Russia, China, and North Korea, and the United States allied with the United Kingdom. The result was a massive amount of soot rising into the air, blocking out the sunlight and causing an atomic winter. 40% of all mankind had perished, but you remain. The days are dark and bleak, and a grey snow covers everything. During the night, it gets too cold for most people, forcing many to live underground, within a great network of tunnels. Some years later, large underground cities, with limited power. Now a mixture of things has sparked a need to go above ground to the surface and explore. The energy is running out of juice, and along with that, the youth of the underground cities are having the natural curiosities of what lies above them... and you are one of them. Slice-of-life, survival, action, that kind of stuff. Not really too futuristic.... so no Gurren Lagann schtick.
