Yes, there are. I recommend you starting with a basic class, such as warrior or mage. The how to play, I recommend you asking for help, I'm still new to this. Maybe you can ask Sirstip or Legion to teach you how to play.
It can be anything, really. Depends on what the GM makes it. Of course it makes more sense if it's consistent once the characters are created. I tend to lean heavily towards fantasy, but still Equestria for the most part.
