Ghost was ripping the wings off of a guard when he heard Angel's weak voice. Thunderclap was almost on top her, from her blind-side, and seeing Ghost's horrified face, he began laughing evilly and swung his hammer with all his might. It never made it. A vermillion bolt struck Thunderclap, and Ghost snatched up Angel, accidentally bumping her neck, bringing a whimper out of her. Ghost looked back at his father, who was now a stone statue. Then he maneuvered Angel onto his back, securing her in place under his jacket.
Angel hated feeling so weak, she huddled in Ghost's jacket and tried to relax. Her neck felt numb now but if she moved it wrong it only hurt worse.
Ghost quickly ran to the infirmary gate, "No good, it's locked" Ghost extended his wings and covered Angel's head with them. One wing had a large tear in it, from the fight with Celestia, and the other was badly damaged. Ghost bucked the gate open and debris fell on his wings, but Angel couldn't feel it. When they got inside the building, they were met with a surprise. The most beautiful Changeling anypony had ever seen, was standing before them. It was Rose, Ghost's mother, "Hello, Ghost..." She said kindly. She was wearing a nurses' outfit, her sapphire mane and tail had golden streaks, her eyes were white, but she wasn't blind. Rose was one of the only known cases of Changeling-generated Love. She guided them to a room where supplies were waiting for them.
"I-I..." Ghost began, setting Angel down gently, "I can try to fix your neck... if you want me to." Ghost was standing at least five feet away from her, looking at the floor.
Angel wanted to stay in Ghost jacket but she didn't have any strength to fight. Her gray eyes almost back to thier normal amythyst color and her mane and tail almost back to thier golden color. Angel looked at Ghost then to Rose. Angel never said anything but she stretched her neck out for Ghost to patch up
Ghost took off his mask, setting it on the table beside him. Angel could see the razor-tipped teeth that caused all the damage to her neck.
Angel looked away from the sight, she layed on the bed normally now. Her neck was soar but she could move it slowly. She let out her wings and stretched them out, "Thank you Ghost." Angel said softly, she gave a reasurring smile.
"I... You're ...welcome..." Ghost said, surprised by her reaction. Dismissing that thought, Ghost found a clean tray of scalpels, knives, syringes, and lots of wrap. "Oh, no..." Ghost said, "it's badly infected..., you still want to go through with this?" Ghost unsheathed a large, wicked-looking blade, and waited for her answer.
Ghost removed her armor with three firm taps to the right chest plate. The armor dissolved into a gelatinous cube.
Angel fell off the bed from the size of the knife. She smile nervously and climbed back up. "Umm.. Is there a smaller one perhaps?" she said nervously. "Umm better yet, if I can get to the Star Swirl Wing I can find a spell to heal this.." Angel stood up but with trouble. Angel hated knives and the hospital.
"No, you can't go there.....my men bombed it to disable their magic defenses," he said, helping her up, "please hold still, alright? I really don't want to hurt you..." He couldn't find anything else to use but a rusty, blood-stained knife and his combat knife.
Angel quickly scanned her mind for the spell and couldn't remember it. "I hate knives though" she said softly. She sat by the bed side and hoped that Ghost would change his mind and atleast let her go look at the wing even if it is in ruins. She even tried the puppy dog eyes she picked up from Cadence when she wanted something from Shining Armor.
Ghost wasn't phased, "Please, Angel..." He begged, hoping she'd understand what me meant by 'you can't go there'. "Don't look at it, ok? It'll be over in a few minutes..." Ghost had set the knife on the bed next to Angel.
He partially gave in, "Alright, we'll go look at the ruins but I want to treat the infection first, deal?"
Angel sighed upset that her puppy eyes didn't work correctly but she took what she could get. She finally gave in.
"Alright, you're gonna feel very sharp, stinging pains, and you're probably gonna hate me for it," Ghost said, sliding the knife into her neck, carefully cutting it open and spraying the anti-bacterial compound. "See? That wasn't so bad." Ghost said, replacing his mask and tossing the knife. When he finished, he bandaged up her wings again, and made a proper bandage for her neck. Then he put her back under his jacket and headed off in the direction of the Star Swirl wing.
Ghost, not really knowing what he was looking for, grabbed a dozen or so scrolls, and headed back to Angel's position.
Angel was searching through her scrolls and sorting them out. She had a like for healing, a pile for weapons and a a pile fore time. "I grew up in this library. I've probably read all of these scrolls a million times." Angel's eyes shed a tear but she kept a smile till she say Ghost. "I'm so sorry." Angel noticed all of the statues. She rested her head against Ghost shoulder hoping to comfort him anyway she can.
"I, uh, found these..." Ghost said in a whisper. "Any spells there for turning someone back from stone?"
