(So, this is the first day of your new school. We are in an assembly, choosing our seats.) Clare looked around the cluttered auditorium. With a heavy sigh, she sat at a seat with numerous empty chairs surrounding it. She brought out her sketchpad, and began to draw, her black hair falling over her eyes.
Jane had just finished getting her timetable and having a meeting with the school principal. Being from the UK and all.So she had absolutely no idea how this whole american system works, though according to her Tumblr dash it was the worst of the worst. She quickly scooted into assembly and sat down next to Clare who she was told was in her homeroom. (whatever that was) though Jane thought it was something like the form she was in back in England. "Hi, I'm Jane Shepherd." Her voice standing out from the chatter due to her British accent.
(Principal, not Headmaster) Allen looked around the auditorium, unsure of what to think. Well, except for one thing, "Tiny compared to my old school..." he muttered to himself, trying to find a seat. He eventually took a seat off to the side and to the back, looking around and hoping that transfer students didn't get called up for introduction. As he took his seat next to some kids he didn't know nor had the guts to say hi to, he couldn't help but wonder how he was going to cope with this. Everything was different right down to the scheduling, not to mentioned this was the first time he had moved in 12 years of his life, so it was essentially a brand new thing to him. Sure his dad was getting a REALLY good position, but...He missed home, as much as he hated it. Change was not something he was used to, especially of this radical sort. But...Maybe this was his chance to start over, and make something he never had; friends.
Clare glanced over shyly at the girl who sat next to her. "Oh.. Um.. Hello." she said, blue eyes wide. Suddenly, another person sat near her. This was unusual. (Please check OOC)
Joshua walked in the auditorium, hating the fact he had to move out of Kansas because things were getting pretty bad there. He walked around with his new laptop in its case; he had bought it recently from a pawn shop. Josh fixed his glasses on his face and made sure the case to it was in his Carhartt's jacket pocket. He wore a neon lime green shirt that had big bold letters saying "Family Strong," along with blue jeans. He had his headphone's around his neck so he would easy access to it. He had both of his wallets including his "Call of Duty" flash drive. Joshua found a seat among all of the other empty chairs. He sat in it and pulled his laptop open, getting on an online book he was reading.
Adam walked into the auditorium, and the first thing he saw was the giant bleachers. "Gosh, this is overwhelming! I don't know where I could find a seat!" He thoughts to himself. He scanned the room, and saw a couple spots open towards the wall. He say down next to Allen, who was lookin particularly distressed. He smiled and asked, "Hey, is everything ok?"
Cameron found his seat on the other side of the room, the tall ginger Australian wishing to simply find a comfortable place to rest. The first time in a school overseas, he could not help but feel homesick. He found a seat behind the row of two girls and sighed, waiting to listen what the principle had to say.
Joshua plugged his flash drive and headphones into the laptop and played some Disturbed. He'll hear the principals voice, auditoriums had to have speakers or surround sound or something! Although Josh didn't really care, his concern was bullying. In 3rd through 7th grade Joshua was bullied enough to break his sanity. He still wasn't completely sane after he moved to Kansas, and the experience he had in Texas will scar him for life.
"So, care to tell me a bit about this school or american schools in general. Im from britain, so have no knowledge what so ever. Oh, I never really allowed you to introduce yourself. You are..?" Jane crossed her left leg over her right and looked forward noticing people set up a microphone on it.
Allen over at Adam, caught off guard by the sudden conversation, "Huh? Oh, yea..I'm fine, just new school and all." He said quickly, "Uh...name's Allen, yours?" He glanced slightly around, maintaining eye contact was never his strongsuit, wondering if the principal was going to speak up soon.
"I know that feel, switching to a new school is hard! But don't worry, you get used to it. I'm Adam, nice to meet you, Allen!" He said, as he put his hand out for a shake.
Cameron relaxed some of the tense nervous muscles as he rested in his chair, allowing the stress to simply fade away. He yawned slightly as he adjusted himself slightly, noticing a conversation happening out of the corner of his eye. Unsure if he were to join if he were to be rejected, he did not know what to say.
Allen nodded and shook Adam's hand firmly, "Yea...Well...I'm kinda hoping I can get a better position on the football team here than I could back home. Favoritism from our coaches meant I never got any playing time, which was not fun. But hopefully the fact I come from a football program ranked 20th nationally last year will help out..." he muttered, "Whatcha wanting to do this year extracurricularly?"
Clara was about to open her mouth ti reply to Jane, but was cut off by the principal clearing her throat. "Attention students!" The entire auditorium fell silent. The principal smiled, and raised the handbook that everyone had gotten. "Please turn to page 364. We will begin with the rules." Throughout the next hour or five, Clara sketched madly on her worn notebook. A portrait of the principal soon emerged from the paper.
Cameron sat down watching the speech, falling into boredom within minutes. He had to remain silent throughout the remainder of the speech, while every aspect of his mind played around with his imagination.
Josh heard the noise from the microphone, 'Oh great!' He thought. Joshua put away his laptop and had put the headphones around his neck again, tucking the cord in his jacket pocket.
Jane sat that with 364 open reading and listening to everything. She always paid attention back home so why change. She sat and read for what seemed like ages. Before noticing Clare's drawing and because she didnt want to draw attention to herself she just gave a smile and a thumbs up showing how much she liked the sketch.
Joshua sighed and grabbed out his PSP (playstation portable) and began playing God of War: Ghost of Sparta. He's always done three things at thew same time, so why not listen while he's playing a game? Josh turned down the volume all of the way, and made sure the light that emitted from it was turned down as well, enough for him to see the game.
"And that is why we cannot wear hats to school. Now, we will go on to the important dates." the principal droned on. Clare smiled at Jane uncertainly, and then made the sketch into a caricature, depicting the principal's utmost need to talk. A lone security guard prowled the isles, watching for troublemakers.
Joshua heard footsteps. He quickly put away the small game system before anyone could see him, of course he would need to put it away, he didn't want it to get taken away. Joshua slouched in his chair, his imagination was taking over his mind. He spaced out looking at the ground, he blocked out what principal was saying as he held his Texas Longhorns hat.
