I use the Sennheiser HD25's. Looks bland, but are durable as hell, and sound wonderful. Around $200 bucks.
I can't believe I have their Amazon page bookmarked, but here you go.
What you're gonna want to do is to go to a specialty site for audiophiles. They'll give you some of the best info, but you could also just read customer reviews.

In response to your original question though, I would think not, because Skullcandy does not make good headphones. They don't.

    I have Sennheiser MX270
They are simpler, street one, but they are good enough for my needs.

My brother has a set of Sennheiser HD25's as well and they most definitely sound amazing. I'm looking to get some good headphones myself in the $100-ish range, any good recommendations?, or would it be worthwhile saving some more and getting something better?

Well, Amazon is selling a pair refurbished for about $130, but I can understand if you don't want to buy anything less than new.
What are you looking for? A headset or earbuds? Just want it balanced sound, or specifically designed for a certain genre?
    Pioneer HDJ-500W ~$120
    Audio Technica ATHES55BK ~$90
    Sennheiser HD598, used, ~$180
    Sennheiser CX880 E (earbuds) ~$100

As you can clearly see, I just went clicking around on Amazon for headphones made by people that I knew made good cans. I haven't heard the best of things about those AT's though, so be wary. Think that if someone would buy a pair of $250 headphones that they would be kind to them right? I refer to the HD598. Sennheiser makes VERY durable headsets by the way, that still have very good sound, so consider those. Pioneer is always been a nice choice. Cheaper than most, really lightweight, sleek and sexy, and they still sound great.

So... there you go, I guess.

Actually, I hadn't even thought about going refurbished, I'm not really fussed about buying brand new so that might be the way to go.

Just a nice balanced headset, I don't have any real specific use for them, but since finally hearing music from decent speakers I find it hard to go back knowing that I'm not hearing the song as I really should.

Thanks a lot mate. I'm very tempted to buy the refurbished ones right now, the price is right after all, either way thanks for the help

I want to get either Skull Candy headphones or Dr. Dre Beats Audio. But I am more of an earphone person. I might get the Skull Candy earphones with a built in mic.

Beats are nice, but I am more of a Skull Candy person. If I ever get Dr. Dre beats stuff, it will have to be earphones. I rather get headphones from Skull Candy if I were to ever get headphones. For some reason, I have a fetish for girls wearing headphones (saw a real pretty girl wearing Dr. Dre headphones), but I myself don't look real good in headphones. :/
