No particular reason as far as I'm aware, probably something overlooked, or it was set default to disallow. I don't see any problems with allowing this. I'll assume that video bbcode is blocked there as well? Staff by default usually get all BBcode permissions. Or at least, all standard ones.
I remember a time before I was on the staff that I tried to post an image, but couldn't. I figured it had to do with the blogs themselves and pretty much forgot about it. That being said, (not that I post on the blogs much anymore) I don't see why we couldn't let members post images in the comments.

Yes, it is. It must have been something decided from a previous Administration because it was in the registered user Usergroup. Well, it's altered now. It's either/or. Nopony get's images or everypony gets them. So, image BB codes are on again.
I'm not sure I understand. There is an "Allow IMG BBcode" setting for each usergroup. Where does it say it's global for everyone?
