Well as we know it my army career ends in 1 year 2 months. That's 14 months left. And I have bills like insurance, phone, car payment, and internet. So I figured I'll be aiming to pay those off as much as I can. and my whole paycheck is going to those if need be. Yes I'll get a job on the side but I was hoping to go play concerts and out in public to earn tips once I get a little better. Where would you guys/girls or other recommend be good enviroments to play. Also is this a good way to get a music career as a guitarist started?
You'll find word of mouth is generally the big one, I have a friend who has played several places live and come home with a pocket full simply because she gets herself out there. She does tend to play a lot at the local pub as well, singing and playing the guitar. So if you have anywhere similar to that, try it. In my home town, I've personally never heard of anyone working on the streets in town becoming well known and getting in at venues.
I busk sometimes. I would recommend Farmer's Markets, because people are shopping, and have their money out. Also, parks in general are good.
