He looked down at her, frowning a little. "I'm still concerned they're going to kill me in my sleep," he said, only half-joking. "She had me meet some of the elders, and they were... displeased, to say the least."
She would know vaguely where the guest rooms were, and his was just down the hall from hers, with a nearly identical setup. He looked around the room with an interested frown before turning to her, his brow furrowed. "This is... a lot."
He noticed, reaching up and brushing his thumb along the line of her jaw. "You're lovely," he said quietly, his eyes narrowing in appreciation as he considered her. A playful smirk crossed his mouth and he dropped his hand nonchalantly. "Y'know. For an elf."
Her blush deepened and she leaned into his touch, until he said the last part. She squinted. "What is that supposed to mean?"
He shrugged playfully, considering her. "I just think that humans are the superior species," he said, folding his hands as he sat on the edge of the bed. "I'm not even a human and I can agree with that."
He reached up, resting his hands on her waist as he smirked up at her. "You don't believe me? I'm the one who's lived with them."
She slipped onto his lap, her arms moving to rest over his shoulders. "Eh. I think you're just biased."
He laughed a little, his hand rubbing the small of her back gently. "I mean... look at you," he murmured, his voice soft. "You're wonderful, Cal."
