Marion's face darkened. "You wouldn't happen to be the one who shot down Blackwing, would ya?" Suddenly, he facepalmed again and stuck out his other hand, waving it through the air. "Wait, don't answer that!" He said. "That was ten years ago, things have changed. We're all on the same side now, no need to make enemies over ten year old news. So, might you know where Littlepip is? I want to steal a chance to talk to the mare."
"I'm right next to her." Julion said glancing over to Littlepip, "But remember, one false move and you'll find yourself at the wrong end of my energy rifle, got it?" Julion watched as the two came up to them, when he suddenly burst into a grin, "I was kidding, this is a party! No need to fret, it's time to celebrate!" and then he stepped aside to let tem talk to Littlepip, "So what do you need?" she asked.
Marion just stood, staring at Littlepip. "It really is you, in the flesh!" He managed to say. "This is great! For so long I thought you were dead because you hooked yourself up and controlled everything but you kept on touch and for-" he stopped to breath, giving him a chance to see Littlepip's very confused face. "Oh! Forgive me, I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Marion. I was one of the Talons sent to clear the clouds the night we took out the cloud curtain. I'm sure you don't know me personally, but I met you through Gawd. I'm just here to thank you for what you did. So...yeah..." he blushed under his feathers, thankful no one could see it. "...thanks for everything you sacrificed for us."
Littlepip was taken aback by what Marion just said, "Um, yea of course, but I wouldn't have been able to do it without my friends." she said. Julion couldn't help but chuckle, Littlepip was always extremely modest an humble and it was good to see that ten years hadn't changed that. There was that feeling again, of how old he acually was. He looked to Marion and saw youth and energy, he looked at himself, well... "So how are the Talons doing. I can't tell you how much my Commandos hate being mostly a defensive force. Hell, our most recent operation was te first in a whole year, and it was just to take out some resurgent raiders." Julion suddenly asked Marion.
Marion frowned. "New Equestria's too happy-happy-joy-joy for you guys, too? The Talons hardly get any work besides helping with physical labor and ending disputes." Marion gave a drawn out sigh. "Soon enough, New Equestria won't even need us any more."
"Well, we will always be needed for those excursions out of Equestria for irradiated water, and Celestia's probably going to need some replacement for her royal guards." Julion said hopefully, "I just miss the days when I would get a new job every few days."
Marion's mind gears spun a few times at what was said. "Oh!" He said suddenly. "I was given notification that I got a contract earlier. I'm not sure what it is yet, but we could perhaps share the contract and do the job together. There's nothing against that, and I'd be glad to have some help along the way. What do you think?"
"Sure, one last contract is good enough motivation for me." Julion replied. He looked over Marion's shoulder to see the Goddess herself making her way over. "Trupa, I would like to have a word with you on your commandos." she said. "Excuse me." he said to the small group around him and followed Celestia to a more private area, "Yes Goddess?" he asked. "Julion, in thanks for your freeing of Littlepip and myself, and also as a precaution against another horrid Great War." Celestia shuddered, "I would like to sanctify both your Commandos and the Talons as official military components, you can complete any current contracts, and also, I would like to place your Commandos in a position equivalent to the old ones. The very ones headed by your old distant great grandmother, Dark Light." the look of joy on Julion's face had never been seen before or since that moment. If he had been a rocket, he would have shot off straight to the Moon. "Why, why thank you Goddess, I, I don't know what else to say!" he said. "Don't worry, you've earned it yourself." Julion found his way back to the others in a daze of happiness, "Goddess, Military, finish contracts, elite unit." he muttered swaying in pure joy, worrying many of those around him, especially Littlepip, Calamity, and Velvet Remedy, how had never seen him anywhere close to this state before.
As Julion wandered off to chat with the large alicorn that had just wandered over, Marion smiled at the alicorn. He didn't know why, but he had taken a liking to their winged and horned allies. As they talked, he raised a talon to his earpiece and pressed a button. "Hello, is anyone getting this?" Oh, hello! Who is this and what do you need? "Marion. I heard from a little bird that I was given a contract to do today?" Ah, yes hold on, let me get it out real fast. ..................................... Okay, got it! Want me to send it to your terminal? "Yes, please. I'll go pick it up momentarily." Aight, have fun with this one! I'm sure you will... Marion pulled his finger off his earpiece and waited patiently for Julion to return.
After Julion recovered, he went over to Marion, "Great news, the Goddess Celestia herself wants to reconize the Talons and Commandos as official New Equestrian military, we can still do contracts and stuff in our downtime to. This day just keeps getting better and better! Now, what was this contract of yours?"
