He paused on the threshold between his pod and the hold, looking down before carefully removing his shoes.
She set out the bowls and pot before going over to the intercom and speaking into it in a cheerful voice. "Dinner is ready! Everything is set out and ready to go."
Trevor glanced up when the loudspeaker crackled to attention. He gave a slight, but genuine smile at the sound of her voice, heading for the kitchen.
Juliet got out the utensils and napkins, setting them down before finally leaning against the kitchen counter, her arms crossed.
"Thanks," she said, going over to the pot and using the ladle to fill a bowl before offering it to him. "You seem tired."
He took the soup gratefully, looking up at her. “I’m alright,” he said after a moment. “Just a long night.”
He squinted before sitting down at the table as the other people began to file in. Derek came in first, taking his food and sitting in the corner where he usually sat. Anya entered next, looking uncertain. Stephanie did not arrive.
Juliet placed the pot and ladle on the table, expecting them to serve themselves. Amira had come in just after Derek, and Basel was with Anya. Alex was last, sitting at the far edge of the table, near the head.
The general chatter filled the room as people began chatting. "What did you find today, Trev?" Derek asked, buttering a piece of bread. Trevor was in a little bit of a daze, but snapped out when he heard his name. "Hm? Oh... not much. There's a wreck about six miles from us."
"A shipwreck," he said slowly. "Mostly rusty rubble now, but still. That reminds me, Basel, I have a new critter for you."
