She looked panicked, her eyes widening. “Not that you’re not handsome,” she said quickly. “You are very appealing to admire. But you are acting strangely.”
She squinted before looking back at her experiment, sliding onto his bench and swinging her legs slightly as she held the vial up to the light. "Now," she murmured in a soft tone, "watch..." She opened her free hand underneath, her fingers brushing the bottom of the glass like flames, and a light blue glow began to emanate from her palms. The concoction swirled and she let go of the vial slowly, letting it levitate in her hand. As Basel watched, the tattoos on Anya's lower jaw began to pulse, glowing with that same light. The concoction shifted before precipitate began to form, first pale white strands that began to interlock and twist together. Vibrant green sprouts grew from the tendrils, growing and interlacing into small vines.
She tilted her head thoughtfully, setting down the vial as a few flowers blossomed, looking similar to Snowdrops. "I was supposed to speed up the creation of life with that," she said, sounding slightly disappointed. "What did I make?"
She frowned, brushing a finger over it curiously. "Maybe it is some kind of creature that hasn't lived yet," she said thoughtfully. "But it isn't moving."
She looked up at him, her expression troubled. "A... a plant...?" she asked, setting the vial down and taking off her goggles. "What is a plant?"
She looked a little annoyed, raising an eyebrow. "I don't know what you're talking about, Basel," she replied.
He frowned, getting up and selecting a book from his cupboard on botany before giving it to her. "Read this."
