She softened, watching him for a moment before leaning onto her front hands and shifting over to him. She lifted one hand and kissed him, reaching up to curl her fingers in his shirt.
She seemed to still when he kissed her back, something he would have noticed, her shoulders relaxing. She was constantly moving, with her long hair or her vibrant tattoos and her eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness, but for some reason, everything seemed to take a breath when she kissed him. She deepened the kiss hesitantly, her hand coming up to cup his jaw.
She pulled apart slightly, blushing deeply as she considered him with a shy smile, slightly out of breath.
She frowned playfully, lying back again and tugging on his shirt. “I do not know how to handle the niceties.”
She laughed, her hand on his waist, rubbing up and down gently. “Are you tired? You had a long day too.”
She shifted to give him more room, lying back against the pillows and reaching over to turn off the light.
She kissed the top of his head as he settled next to her, running her fingers through his hair. She propped the botany book on her hip and began to read.
She hummed quietly, her hands soft in his hair, but a few hours later, she closed the book and pulled him closer, shutting her eyes and falling asleep.
