The creature looked almost like oil, thick tarlike sludge. It was quite small, about an inch and a half long. It wasn't moving. "I thought it was just some engine tar or something, but the little sucker snuck up on me really quickly. It's a fast one.
“Yeah,” he said, leading him back to the entrance. “You know me, I’m not easily freaked out, but it does give me the creeps a little.”
"It's rather strange looking," he agreed, his mouth opening to continue before his foot caught on the doorframe and he tripped, dropping the glass case.
The slug moved out of sight almost instantly and Trevor backed away. “*squee!*. Did you see where it went? Basel, head back to the lab and seal the door; we gotta go into lockdown.”
Basel looked upset, pushing himself back on his feet as he cursed under his breath. "Right. I'm going."
Trevor helped him up before pulling away, looking around before heading down the hallway quickly, looking for an intercom.
Anya was in the lab, but she looked up at him cheerfully. “Hello again,” she said, but her expression dropped as she saw the glass on him. “What happened?”
He looked down at himself before sealing the lab door. "Ah.. I accidentally dropped the glass case and the creature escaped. We'll have to go to lockdown until its found."
She clucked her tongue sympathetically, coming over to him and cupping his jaw gently, giving him a sweet kiss. “I’m sorry, Baze,” she said with a frown. “That, as your people say, sucks.
“Aren’t you proud?” she teased. The intercom crackled to life and Stephanie’s voice came through. “Attention: we are on stage three lockdown. This is not a drill. Please follow through with procedure.”
Basel sighed, sitting on the couch. "What a mess this has become." *** Amira retrieved her gear with a frown, looking thoughtful. *** Alex frowned, looking up from his work. "We can keep working, right?" *** Juliet was on her way to her room, her pace a bit hasty.
She looked over at him, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Is this dangerous?" she asked curiously. * * * Derek was also slipping on his duty belt, his eyes downcast. * * * Stephanie's arms were crossed, but she looked over at him. "I want to," she said in frustration. "I just don't know about the capabilities of the animal." * * * Trevor was also hurrying through the hall, his eyes worried. He saw Juliet and waved her over. "Do you know where you're going?"
"It shouldn't be," he said. "We've sealed ourselves here." *** Amira sighed, standing straight. "What does it look like again?" *** He set down his tools. "Alright." *** Her brows furrowed. "I'm going to my room for lockdown."
She frowned, resting her hands on her knees. "What do we do now?" * * * "Trevor said like something you might pull out of a gross shower drain," Derek said flatly. "Black and kinda tar-like." * * * She was pacing, clearly concerned. "Why haven't we heard anything?" * * * "Good, good. That's good. I'm going to follow you because Basel doesn't know how to walk. That cool?"
He shrugged. "Just wait?" *** She frowned. "Oh. This.. won't be easy." *** "I don't know. Maybe they haven't found anything yet." *** She raised her eyebrow at him. "Sure."
She pressed her lips together, looking concerned. "Okay." * * * "We just need to have each other's back. Like always, right?" * * * "But they should be reporting in," she said. Alex might have the suspicion that if he hadn't been in the room, she might still be muttering to herself in a similar fashion. * * * "Nice. We really, really should hurry."
"It'll be okay," he said easily. *** She nodded, looking up at him. "Of course. Always." *** "I'm sure it's fine.." *** She nodded, her pace hurrying.
