It's now Day 2 of me using Windows 8.1,
I think I'm starting to get used to having a start button again. Thankfully it's just a mono-color graphic to its not very visually intrusive. I still think its dumb since going to the left bottom corner does the same thing as pressing the button, but after a day of dealing with it being there, I've gotten used to it.

As for other features, the ability to make start tiles different sizes is SO helpful. I can now fit way more shortcuts in the main start screen by grouping similar ones into a set of 4 quarter tiles - if you scroll up to my start screenshot in an earlier post you can see what I mean, with some of the Office shortcuts I don't use as often, but still wanted pinned.

I also read last night that Windows 8.1 has 3D printing support built in, and Microsoft is working with a whole slue of 3D software and printer companies on this, and has plans for integrating Kinect for Windows with 3D modeling and printing software... So that's all really cool xD , I can't wait until I can afford a 3D printer and/or Kinnect now; haha.

This isn't a Windows 8 specific thing, but I still hate that UAC still exists. I swear it's only purpose is to get in the way of everything you are trying to do to protect idiots from themselves, and blocking us actually competent users in the process. I had to turn off UAC again when the 8.1 update installed, and it's momentary re-appearance just made me remember how much I hate it.

You don't need to keep justifying your response. It's just a layout that does not fall within my preferences. Annnnd that's that.

What exactly happens when I upgrade to the 8.1 preview?

If I install it, will I have to format and reinstall windows 8 again when 8.1 is released (unless it's out already) or will I be able to upgrade from the preview to the finished update?

Also, I've removed the start buttong recently and tried getting used to just windows 8 itself. So far I'm having an enjoyable experience doing so ^^

I've stayed away from the Windows 8 updates, because ALL of them have bricked my computer so I had to to a re-install. So far, the original Win8 is what I'm staying with.
