He was fast asleep, his head turned into the pillow and his dark hair falling over his eyes. He was resting on his side, facing the edge as one had was under the pillow and the other gripped the sheets.
She looked down at him and her expression relaxed as she hesitantly got in on her side, sliding in next to him and settling, watching his back.
He had taken off both of his cloaks, wearing his plain, white shirt that hung over his frame, gently outlining his back.
That night she would have a vision. It was a blacksmith's shop in what appeared to be the higher end of the kingdom. There was a box deep inside in what looked to be the bedroom, hidden under the bed. She would get the feeling it held the key.
She woke blearily the next morning, blinking in confusion. Her head was resting on the pillow, lying on her side, closer to Zerras than she had been the night before.
He was still asleep, his expression calm and peaceful. His head was turned slightly toward her, and he exhaled sleepily.
She watched him for a moment, using the time to reflect on her vision. After a moment, she leaned in and rested her forehead against his shoulder, closing her eyes again.
She stiffened in surprise, her eyes flying open as she looked up at him. There was a moment of silence before she shifted a little, scooting towards him and resting her head in the curve of his neck, her hands lying gently on his chest.
He was quiet again, holding her close to him as he slept. His touch was warm. It might have been too warm, in the right conditions, but right now it seemed nice.
Her ears fell back, and she closed her eyes again, letting herself relax slowly as she drifted in that half-awake place.
She mumbled in surprise, her eyes flying open sleepily. In the morning light, they were warm and gentle and affectionate, the colors a mixture of cinnamon and orange marmalade. She seemed confused, her brow furrowing in her trademark worried expression and she shifted slightly, looking up at him, her body malleable and cozy next to his. "...Zer...?"
He looked down at her, his expression sleepy and confused. He pushed his hair back, maybe a little nervously, and took a quick breath. "We're close.. Why are we so close?"
She frowned too, looking a little nervous as she pulled back from him uncertainly. "I... I don't know. You grabbed me a little while ago. I'm... I'm sorry."
He seemed to relax a bit more as he woke, his shoulders dropping as he reached up and rubbed his eyes. "No, I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking when I woke up."
She softened too, resting her head on the pillow as she looked up at him. "Did you sleep well?" she asked, her hand falling from his chest. "It must've been nice to sleep in a bed."
He nodded, leaning back on his own side. There may have been a slight flush on his face. "Yeah. I fell asleep pretty quickly."
