So I thought it might be fun to have a thread about traveling. What's the most far away place you've ever visited? Where do you think is the most interesting place that you've been to? Have any cool stories about a trip you once took? I'll go first; So I'm from the northeast US, and the farthest I've ever traveled was to Hawaii with my family about 5 years ago. I think that's the first time I've ever seen a volcano up close, let alone an active one. being from the north it was really strange being in a tropical location, the trees were different, the sand was different, It was cool, but I think I have an irrational love of pine trees and snow that I missed and was eventually glad to return to. Most interesting place I've been to might have been Germany on a school trip, where I got to see a few cities including Berlin. We even saw one of the old outposts for the East German border and the no-mans land between, that had been preserved. I speak such little German that I could only really wander around and ask simple directions, I couldn't have very long real conversation with anyone that didn't also know some English. The funniest thing I remember from the trip was going into a pizza place run by some Turkish immigrants that couldn't speak German very well and didn't know any English. Between us not knowing german and them barely knowing german, none of us got what we meant to order that day, but the strange pizzas we did get were great and we all laughed about it after.
I'm from Georgia and I've been to Mexico, Canada, Jamaica (briefly), Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, New York (state), and Michigan. The most interesting place I've been to is probably Kyouto, Japan (or just Japan in general, really). That was a hella fun trip and I hope to go back some day!
So where have i been too... Well i've seen quite a few cities in germany (Berlin, Würzburg, Nürnberg, Hannover, Landshut, Paderborn etc etc.). Then i was in Italy where part of my family lives, there i was in the north, in the middle and in the far south on sicily. I was in London for one week as the last mayor school trip and i loved it! It was sooooo cool! But also very expensive I was in Austria and Switzerland but always just for weekends in the mountains and stuff. So the best i was i have to say was Croatia. I was there a few times. I was snorkling for hours, because the underwater world there is so beautiful and fascinating. And the best part, Do you know all the pictures that are on 9gag abou their national park and how beautiful it is? It just reallly looks like that! I was there for i think 5 days and we were hiking through it, were on a boat on a small lake, hiked about 10000000000 steps (at least it felt like that) upwards next to a waterfall, and when we were up it was one of the most beautiful sights i have seen so far. I loved it, i would return anytime if i can aaand im jealous of Yeti because he has this beauty so near
Oh sure. Nevermind the logistics involved in emigration, the culture and language barriers, and the general disdain for foreigners Japanese people have.
