With a slam shut of his front door, Xan yawned, half asleep from a long night and little sleep. The sun hurt his eyes, causing him to squint as he made his way into the middle of town to get something to eat as a late breakfast. He accidentally bumped into a few ponies, not watching where he was going, and apologized to them sleepily, one of them being Arcana. "Oh, goodness. My apologies, madam." He says immediately, bowing his head respectfully.
Arcana giggled before she raised his head, "Don't worry about it, looks like you just need a pick me up, I'm on my way to breakfast myself. Care to join me?" she asked, genuinely intrigued by his politeness.
He looked at her and cracked a genuine smile, feeling comfortable with her already. "Oh, that would be lovely. I haven't been able to sleep much lately." He says softly with a nod, as they turn to walk towards the shops. "My name is Xaniith, but most just shorten it to Xan, what may I call you, miss?" He asks, looking up at her.
He nods, looking forward. "Arcana..." He echoes, trying to remember where he had heard the name before. After a few seconds of silence, he shakes his head, and enter a cafe. He turns to her. "What would you like?" He asks, already looking more awake, smiling at her.
"I'm thinking waffles," Arcana speaks, while thinking about what kind of waffles she want. Fluffy, crispy, anything sounds good.
Smiling at the suggestion and nods, turning to order two sets of waffles, as they go and find a table to seat themselves down.
He smiles sweetly at the pony, before realizing he was staring, and quickly looks away, blushing slightly. Before long, the ordered waffles arrived. Xan looks up and thanks the waitress kindly and proceeds to eat the waffles slowly, catching a glance at his new friend every so often.
Arcana was hungry, she ate slowly, but somewhat ravenously. The waffles were great, especially the addition of strawberries and whipped cream.
Xan made a bit of a mess of himself, who actually hadn't had waffles before, and these made quite the mess. After finishing, he chuckled shyly, and used a napkin to clean himself up. "So, Arcana. Tell me about yourself, what brings you here?" He asks, trying rather desperately to not be awkward and start some conversation.
Arcana looks up from her waffles, with a bit of whipped cream hanging of of her lips. She wipes her lips off with a napkin, while giggling, then answers. "Well, I've been traveling really, here and there, you know?" she explained. She returned to eating a couple bites then asked, "How about you?"
Xan nods, fully invested as she speaks, while cleaning his plate of what he can. Arcana's soft giggles couldn't stop him from smiling, looking like a goof, before giving his own answer. "I've been brought up here, and never moved away. Sounds a little boring, I know, but I had little need to leave this town." He replied.
"Well," she began to speak, "You can be my guide here, I admit I don't know this place well enough. You seem nice enough," she suggested with a smile. "That's if you want to," she finished speaking.
Xan thought for a moment and nodded. "Yeah, sure. I would like that. I will admit I don't go out and see or do much around here, but I'd enjoy taking you around and showing what's around" He responded, blushing a little as he speaks.
Tilting his head a little as she writes, Xan looks at her. "Mind if I ask what you've got there?" He asks.
