Aspergers

So my family and i visited my therapist yesterday, which interrupted my world of warcraft playing by 2 hours setting me back exponentially <.<
Anyway, she asked to speak to my parents alone first. So they went in with her and they spoke about several things those of which my parents would not tell me about. Then she took me in and gave me some sheets of paper to read through about identifying social situations and facial recognition. I wondered what that was about. I asked what they had spoken about in the car with my mom on the way home and she said Holly (therapist) is preparing to diagnose me with Aspergers Syndrome and is referring me to a psychologist. I have done much research on Aspergers and know almost everything about it...i have identified with it before...but now that it could be a reality...and i feel so very lonely and confused...i want to be better at social situations :/ i want to identify other peoples reactions and know what they're thinking..

    Sad. I wish you lots of luck with this. I hope you won't be categorized as a person with that syndrom. Well, I can say, that you're doing really well on the forums, I mean, welcoming and greeting the new members. I don't know, what's that all about. Seriously great job with welcoming and greeting everypony (by that I mean welcoming and greeting everypony here should be categorized as social situation).

    Welcome to the club. I have been diagoned with aspergers as well (last week) and my life hasn't changed at all. Just think about some of the greatest minds of human history has/had aspergers. Here's a list:

    Thanks for the relation RobinHood :) i do appreciate it and yes i know of many famous people who have aspergers! It may not give you the ability to socialize with finesse but, where one sense fails another prospers greatly beyond your imagination. Which is where my mind comes into play.

    Exactly, i have had it for a long time, it make's life hard but this diagnosis makes nothing harder...just a bit of a shocker due my incoherent suspicion being finally confirmed. :l

    Doesn't change who you are, really. A diagnosis is just defining a large characteristic about you, but it's not necissarily bad or anything. Heck, I never would have guessed.

    Indeed it's just really a part of who i am and always has been they've just given it a name dx
    I tend to keep my frustrations bottled up, though. Maybe i can work on that.

    I happen to know quite a bit about Asperger's, mostly because my littlest brother has Autism. I know none of us think any less of him for it, nor do we treat him awkwardly because he is different. I love him. You don't have anything to worry about.

    Not officially diagnosed but many people think I have it and I'm currently being tested (but they're using like a test for mentally deficient people... It makes me feel stupid) but I really think I have it... But it doesn't matter cuz no matter what you're still just as awesome as before :) just live on and don't let it affect you.

    I'm sorry you feel that way, bro - feeling lonely and discouraged really sucks. I've felt that way before and it's never fun. For me, I don't have Asperger's, but I do have ADD. I know Asperger's isn't the same, but it still comes with some good pros to it.
