Telescopic

I've been stargazing for the past few nights with a crappy pair of binoculars. Looking at the moon is really quite amazing. On its surface I can see many prominent craters and seas that I normally can't see with my own eyes. It's really a spectacular sight.

Living in town however, makes it it very hard to view planets because of so much light pollution. Damn humans and their artificial light. Not that I'm complaining.

I also managed to see some bright stars and what looked like a space station passing overhead, though it could have just been a plane.

So now I've decided. I want a telescope for Christmas. The cosmos are such a wonderful place and I want to see them first hand. I want to view nebulae, the moons of jupiter, and the rings of saturn. I want to see large asteroids and hopefully even mars.

    There is something both relaxing and fascinating about observing the cosmos. I'd really like to see what everything looks like from a telescope as well. If you do end up getting one, I look forward to hearing about what you think.

    Space is an amazing topic. Astrophysics is definitely one of my career choices.

    I've also always wanted to discover my own star or planet. Or create my own constant. Either will do.

    You can see seas on the moon? Man, those binoculars are crappy, aren't they.

    I live in Kansas, so the light pollution isn't as bad here. A couple years back, my dad bought this giant 16 foot long microscope that we occasionally dig out and stare at planets with. Jupiter is my favorite to look at.

    One lucky night I was able to observe Saturn clear as day with a pair of binoculars.
    That was quite the night.

    Space is the only good topic of science im exceptionally well at, we havent learnt it at my school yet however.
