Just wondering if anyone could give some critique on this. It'd be really appreciated. >.> She cut her garden as it grew, With steely blade and iron shoe. She tore their faces into smiles, And laid them all to rest. Hook and leather, metal, bone, A shallow breath, an anguished moan. Sweet liberation all in time, Her children fell asleep. Games of irony, games of chance, A twisted, devilish, dark romance. They writhed until their lives were spent, Their chests rose once then fell. A careful eye, a loyal heart, Some smiling lips, an honest tongue Alone in glass; their mistress Is left rolling in her tomb. Thanks! -Lex
Good and evil have no legitimate reason to exist. The murder of an innocent is regarded as being ‘evil’ in society, yet did the murderer believe their actions to be evil? No, they did not. Even if society thought badly of the action, the murderer thought good of it. Good and evil only relate to a single human’s emotional state in regards to a certain action carried out by another individual or by chance. Nothing can be classed as either good or evil simply because each individual has their own opinion of the issue. With no God to dictate black and white, how can anyone class what is right or wrong? We class what is right and wrong based on the consequences of our actions. If we are punished for killing, our mind ends up dictating that the action is bad. If we are rewarded for killing, our mind ends up dictating that killing is good. But why does society reward or punish us? The answer is because of human pain. Humans feel pain as a mode of self-preservation, and when such pain reaches extremes, its victims dislike it and brand it as ‘evil’ no matter how much the ‘perpetrator’ may see their actions to be good. This brings us to the subject of human life. What is its value and how do we measure it? In comparison to the universe and time itself, human life and the human species is insignificant. We are nothing in the grand scheme of things. Though, we human life does have some significance to humans. Life is meaningless, but it does not mean that humans cannot give it meaning. The same applies to the value of human life. It has no value, but it does not mean that humans cannot value it and give value to it.
Art is defined as “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination.” Humans express themselves constantly through mediums such as painting, sculpture, music and writing. We create out of imagination and out of the need to express our new information and ideas. But why do we read the same book over and over again, listen to the same song constantly or view the same artworks day after day? I believe it to be for comfort and security. The first time we view an artwork, we do so to experience something knew without running the risk of feeling real pain. If our favorite character dies as opposed to a friend, the grief is much less because the character was never living. The second time we view the same artwork, we have become accustomed to it. We know what is coming next and so we feel a sense of security. When we play a piano piece, we know which phrase will come next and when we read a book, the deaths of the characters have already been written. How is religion any different to art? Religions hear the same stories over and over again; giving a sense of security. Just like art, religions are expressions of human creativity that change over time as our needs develop. So what is the difference between art and religion? There is no difference. One could also say that Atheism is considered art, as Atheism is still an expression, though it is more analytical than creative. We can conclude from this that if Atheism is art and religions are art, then one could consider Atheism to be a religion. Although Atheists do not worship a God, do religions have to include a solid belief of the supernatural?
Why? It’s the age-old question humans still strive to answer due to an insatiable appetite for knowledge. Because we are beyond ensuring the most basic of needs (food, water, shelter), we have channeled our time and energy into taking on larger tasks. The only issue with tackling such a question is that ‘why’ is always one step ahead of us. As we vocalize an answer, a new question arises in our mind before we have the time to finish our previous explanation. So why continue asking ‘why’ if it is always one step ahead of us? When do we stop asking ‘why’? Do we cease to ask once our appetite for knowledge has been satisfied, or do we cease to ask when the knowledge we discover is beyond our understanding? Alternatively, does our thirst never cease and are we all destined to answer a chain of infinite questions up until our deaths? I conclude that the question of ‘why’ is infinite, seeing that it is always one step ahead of our thought process. Therefore, I can conclude that I will never finish my research in its entirety. Instead, I will stop when I am either satisfied with the amount of information I have, or I will cease asking ‘why’ entirely when I cannot understand the information I discover. And such is the human thirst for knowledge. One can ask why we have this thirst and the simple answer is that ‘why’ is the largest question one can ask and answer. Humans are always looking for something more challenging and the infinite qualities of ‘why’ attract our creativity and intellect.
Hello everypony, You may have recently read my theories and experiences with cosmic dreams. If you haven't already, you can find it under the title 'What if I told you we could be free whenever we wish?'. I received many private messages asking for more detail about the dream and after a while, I decided to dive into a deep analysis. I have contacted a Dream Interpreter and have done some of my own research, and I plan to put together a folder of my raw notes and larger accounts of the dream. I hope to get to the bottom of it... So I've decided to share a little of my research with you. Summary of Dream Interpreter's first comments [*=left]Thinking about what you can do as a result of the dream is more important than extensive analysis of the symbols. The symbols speak for themselves. [*=left]A memory is experienced. A dream is experienced. Memory= dream. It doesn’t matter where the memory came from because you have it regardless. [*=left]You were given the dream because it was much better than the path you were on. Positivity brought astonishment and astonishment brought ‘invitation to spiritual realm’. Fear stops positivity and was fabricated in this dream. [*=left]Feelings of astonishment/wonderment feel so alien in society. That is why it was odd to feel those emotions after the dream. [*=left]Lucid/recurring nature= for memory preservation. [*=left]Most important thing is that you were given a snapshot of how life is supposed to be and that you can make the world a better place. Great gifts come with responsibility to humanity and so now have to make real world = dream-fear. That is why I am sharing the cosmic dream. Exerpt from the larger account I am currently editing After some research, I found that a feather symbolizes warmth and comfort and an enjoyment in life. Purple is the colour of individuality and fun, white represents dignity and peace, and burgundy symbolizes the potential of power. Walking through a forest indicates a transitional stage in life, yet I was not walking through the forest in my dream. I never entered it in the first place. Could this suggest that I have passed some kind of transitional phase? After finding that rocks are a symbol of permanence and that sand accounts for a new perspective, this began to make sense. I came from a transitional phase into a new, solid perspective. The ocean stood for tranquillity and renewal whereas the stone carvings represented creativity. I recall that the stone carvings faced towards the ocean, and so this may suggest that my creative side was being given a boost of renewal. The cave represented refuge and protection and crystals within are symbols of unity and development. Could it be argued that because I was afraid to go into the cave, I was afraid of being unprotected whilst under a process of change? The snakes in my dream have many meanings to them. I found that they could represent knowledge and wisdom, yet they can also represent a fear of commitment caused by a fear of loss, and hidden fears that are yet to arise. I was unable to research what the split in the sand may indicate. It was a neat cut in the earth, appearing as though the wind had never touched it. As previously stated, I do not believe strongly in symbolism and that it somehow ‘dictates our futures’. Though, when I came across the symbolic meaning for ‘beach’, I paused in a state of surprise and awe. A beach represents the meeting between two states of mind: The structured, processing side of your mind and the abstract, creative side of your mind. Again, the beach plagues my mind and I continue to think about it with each waking hour. Already, I’ve accepted it as a memory rather than a dream. And why not? If it feels right, how can it be wrong?
Many of us believe that a supernatural creator dictates our purpose, but where can we gather the evidence that a higher power exists at all? I believe in the existence of gods, yet I am not religious. I believe that because the human mind controls all we do and one who controls all we do is called a god, we can refer to ourselves as being gods. There is no right and wrong, no miracles and no one to rule over us all. We’ve evolved to suit our own needs and we will continue evolving into the future because of our minds. Since we weren’t created by a higher power, do a set purpose? Yes and no. Yes, we do not lack a set purpose simply because there is no higher power to set a purpose for us, and no because we don’t lack a purpose entirely. When creatures become intelligent and imaginative, they seek purpose. When they have conquered issues of finding food and shelter, they find bigger tasks to fulfill. The time comes where the creatures have evolved such intelligence they begin questioning. When they cannot explain certain questions, there is likelihood that the imaginative side will take over and fabricate false information and reasoning, causing the creature to come to the conclusion that everything is the result of one, simple idea- A supernatural God. Lack of evidence has caused us to fabricate responses to questions we cannot explain. The human race had imagination before science and therefore theorized before they had any evidence to support their theories. Then, as humanity progressed and science came into the picture, conflict arose between what we knew and what we thought we knew. Some decided to keep to traditional ways whilst others embraced new discoveries. Some believed that they were given a purpose to fulfill and other believed they needed to create their own purpose. Some believe we have a set purpose because of the human instinct to ‘cling’ to things for hope and support, yet we have no purpose. We are born with the ability to learn skills based on our genetic makeup, and we develop and build our skills to enjoy successes. We create our own purpose based on what our design draws us to. We decide how we live our lives. We decide if we wish to enter a field we have no skill in and fail, and we decide if we enter a field we are designed for and that we will enjoy success in. We are naturally drawn to what will suit us best as living organisms. There is nothing more to life than meets the eye. We are born, live and then die. We leave traces of what we have accomplished in our lives and pass on our genetic strengths to the next generation. There is no afterlife, no right or wrong and no boundaries. There is no evil in the world nor is there any good, and there is no set purpose to our lives. We decide what we wish to do with ourselves. Life in an impermanent fluke that only arose by chance due to the right conditions. Someday our species will be gone as well as our theories, beliefs and accomplishments. We provide no benefit to the grand scheme of the universe, as we are insignificant beyond description. Life on Earth is just a single, small flash in the timeline of all that has existed, will exist and exists now. Someday, the existence of all that is living and non-living may cease to exist. There will be no blackness to replace the planets and stars and galaxies and the countless species that will be gone, as not even blackness will exist. It can be argued that the concept of existence itself may be one small flash in the scheme of something larger; something incomprehensible. And where does human purpose play any part in this? The answer is simple: it doesn’t play a part at all. The most sacred relationships you have now and even your most sentimental items have no meaning to the universe. Your grief, love, hopes and deepest emotions have only the tiniest and most insignificant place in the bigger picture. We are only as advanced as your species allows you to be and in comparison to the complexity of the universe, we are still primitive in nature. We still have the need to cling to things and explain what we cannot with abstract theory. Though evolution and change are inevitable, we can make the minutest changes within ourselves to allow for open-mindedness. Although we can recognize that there is no set purpose in life or in our species, we can still strive to learn more and to explain our findings with factual evidence. And though the thought of being insignificant has a negative impact on the human psyche, who said it was ever wrong to be happy and ignore the reality during our daily lives? There is no right or wrong after all.
There are just as many different concepts of gods, goddesses and higher powers as there are people. Why? Because each person has their own view of the same subject. Even if a billion people belong to a single religion, each person will have a differing image of what their god may look like. My image of god, you ask? My image is none less than myself. I am not a religious or spiritual person, and if you had known I am an atheist before reading this you may have expected me to say that I have no image of god. A god is something unseen that controls all, creates all and is all. What controls me is my mind, what creates my work is my mind, and what I am is my mind. My mind is me and therefore my god is me. It is said that since humans cannot create something out of nothing, they cannot be gods. So where does emotion come from? It comes from the brain, of course, which is a physical item. But if we take the brain of a human and place it upon a table, still fresh and undamaged, we cannot completely see where the emotions of the person once came from. It is the chemicals in our brain and how they react that we ourselves to. Life itself is just a giant chemical reaction, one could say. But what do we owe these chemical reactions to? How are our thoughts created? Evolution, of course. It is evolution that has created us what we are today, and it is evolution that is allowing me to question life itself. Evolution has chosen every detail and fibre of your being, from how tall you are right down to how many cells make up your fingernails. So what causes evolution? Religions tend to stop questioning here, answering by saying that a god or higher power has caused evolution. I must agree with them here, yet I am not contradicting myself by saying so. As I explained earlier, I believe that every creature is its own god. Now I am saying that evolution is caused by a god. So now who caused evolution? Why, living creatures, of course- Us. All that have lived, all that will live, and all that are living have aided in evolution one way or another. Once upon a time, the fish's mind told him he needed to crawl out of water to eat. So the fish grew legs and learnt to walk, eating freely and growing strong. Next, the fish's mind dictated to him that he was to learn to hunt and catch larger prey. So the fish learnt to hunt. Who decided what the fish did? Why himself, of course; driven out of need. Something unseen in the fish's mind controlled him, created thoughts for him and made him who he was. His thoughts and needs caused him to evolve and become better and more suited to his environment. The fish- a god - evolved. So now we have reached the conclusion that gods are able to evolve. We can see this through world religions and how they have changed through the ages to adapt to the changing needs of people. Though, if you lack a religion, how are you to gain any kind of faith? The answer is simple- Evolve yourself. Improve yourself because you are a god.
What is a dream, and what is a memory? Where do the boundaries meet and how do we define each? What if we wake into a dream everyday where all we love is set into combat with all we fear? What if sleep is our natural state, and each night we slip into reality? Why not blur the lines between dream and reality? Why is a dream not allowed to be a memory? Those who believe they are our masters can drag us to our knees and assault our bodies, but they do not know that there are two kinds of submission: Physical and mental. Whilst the demons attack our bodies, we do not have to let them infiltrate our minds. Our minds can be elsewhere regardless of where our bodies are. The electricity between two people can jump time and space. When you allow your dreams to be your realities, you do not have to wait for anyone or anything. You can eliminate all that you fear and all that hunts your body. You can be anything. You can be you. Although we must wait for the touch of a person to calm our bodies, the voice of a person in our realities can calm our mind. So why can a dream not be a memory? Why have any borders between the two? They cannot take away from you what you feel inside, for it is locked within your mind and only you have the key. I believe even though there is no higher power to 'guide' us, no afterlife and no souls, evolution has given us something which is beyond priceless- Our mind. The mind is where we theorise about gods and afterlives, and the mind is classified as our essence; the most essential part of ourselves. Even if we become a quadriplegic, our minds are still racing- It takes more to damage the mind than the body. As long as we have our minds, we have won. Even if our bodies cry, our minds lay on a beach; the sun aglow, waves lapping at our feet and sand between our toes. We can be free whenever we wish.
I once said that cancer cells and stupidity have much in common: They both have little direction and both multiply rapidly, forming a useless lump and threatening our existence. Therefore, I believe that stupidity is the cancer of society and the cancer of us all. We all have encountered cancer in our lives at some point- Some more often than others, or some more often than not. But it is when these cancer cells rapidly multiply within us, what are we to do about it? How can we recognise it is there? Where does it come from? The symptoms of heart cancer include: Chest pain, loss of consciousness, shortness of breath and anxiety. No matter who we are, we will come to experience these symptoms as a result of stupidity breeding in the heart. Your heart may feel pain or you may become short of comforting things to say. As anxiety boils to the surface, you may lose consciousness and 'give up' on life altogether. Which stage is your cancer currently at? There are ways in which one can avoid 'heart cancer'. For instance, one may stay away from unhealthy foods; as much as the food is filling and appears much better than any other. We must remind ourselves that these 'unhealthy foods' do not always compensate for a good lifestyle. Though they cause us to appear glowing and joyous on the outside, cancer is rapidly taking hold of the heart. Are you able to recognise the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods? We cannot let the cancer take hold of us or we risk losing consciousness, where the body will give up the reality we are in and fall into the darkness. After we have discovered the cancer, radiation will be our saviour. A radiation which makes us glow and rids us of our cancerous heart may be the ticket out of unconsciousness and we must recognise and embrace this ticket. Where does your radiation come from? I've discovered mine.
