1. Anypony out there remember the classic Disney Channel? Instead of commercials between shows they would show music videos put together using clips of classic Disney animation. they called it DTV

On a rare whim I decided to search Youtube to see how far Bronies have taken this concept. I'm actually pretty darn impressed.

So with that said...let's watch some Pony TV:

"At the Hop" - Originally by Danny & the Juniors (not sure whose doing this version):

    "Everyday" - Buddy Holly:

"Return To Sender" - Elvis Presley:

"Land of 1,000 Dances" - Wilson Pickett

  2. Ahhh Sunday Night. Back in High School it meant two things. I'd have to get up very early to catch the bus for school tomorrow morning. However I had one more piece of weekend joy. At 8 PM every Sunday night during High School I'd rush up to my room and put on my favorite radio station and listen to my favorite program. "This is Doo Wop" Bruce and Shag would spin two hours of "Rock N' Roll, Rhythm & Blues, & Street Corner Harmony" from the 50's and early 1960's. Little did I know at the time but I would be spinning the same music over the Internet Radio airwaves during my upperclassman years and in college.

I know this music isn't modern or hip and most of you have never heard it before...but let me dust some of these records off and give 'em a spin.

Let's start off with a group that formed while in the military outside of Pittsburgh. These are the Dell-Vikings and Whispering Bells

Here's a group from outside of Chicago, The El Dorados singing Ling Ting Tong This kind of song would never work in our polittically correct world

This song might be familiar to more of you. The song would be covered in the movie The Blues Brothers. These are The Chips and Rubber Biscuit

    .

Time to head out to The West Coast. These are the Cadets and the awesome rocker Love Bandit.

During the last half hour of "This is Doo Wop" it was time for the slow romantic ballads. they called the segment "Slide Over Baby!" I would do the same later with my "Slow Grind Time" segment

Presenting The Nutmegs out of New England. They are singing Key To The KIngdom. A sock smoker if I've ever heard one.

A great one to snuggle too. Billy Abbot & The Jewels from Philly - Groovy Baby

One more song. I'm going to dedicate this one to everyone who looks out their window at the stars at night and dreams of true love that hasn't happened yet and sometimes seems so far away. These are The Dubs singing Is There A Love For Me?

Yeah I know this music is very old but it is the music I grew up diggin'
  3. Time for another edition of My Favorite Pony Videos!

Back in the mid 90's I really loved Animaniacs (and still do). Check out this awesome version of the theme song, but this time with ponies. Yay!

Cute magical ponies + one of Weird Al's awesome polkas = Awesome!

Applejack is best Cowpony! Jason Aldean knows "She's Country"

Okay, that's enough for now. I'll be back with more soon.
  4. In the few short weeks that i have been a Brony I have learned one thing. this isn't just a fandom dedicated to the show or just gathers together to enjoy the show and stuff like that. The Brony fandom gets out there and helps their fellow man. It does my heart good to be considered among the herd. I'm also very active in giving back. I am a board member of my local Lions Club - and for almost 20 years I am a volunteer for a local private school for Special Needs children.

Tomorrow night as a volunteer for the school, I will continue a 15 year tradition. I help put on a sock hop on for the kids as their DJ. It's really fun and endearing to see the kids have fun - these kids all face challenges and long odds. To give them a night of joy and fun is the least I can do. Any proceeds that are made go back to the school and in total, over the years, the event has raised about $10,000 for these wonderful kids and their school.

I'm not saying that for praise, or to make myself look good. I'm just proud to be part of the Brony community, helping those in need and giving back to our communities and world.

Brohooves to all who join me in this pursuit.
  5. It's a stormy day down in Georgia today. There have been some Tornadoes to our Northwest but nothing like that here thank goodness.

Anyways, with the grey skies and the storm of drama in the community (at the moment) I thought I'd lighten things up and share with you, my fellow Bronies, my favorite Pony videos right now.

First up is the video that brought me to the table in the first place. I saw it just before The Hobbit movie came out. It's totally epic. Lord of The Rings Reenacted By Ponies!

One of the hip things to do is create lyric videos for songs that don't have music videos yet. One of the most awesome songs in the Pony universe is Pinkie's "Smile" song. A fan remixed the song and created this awesome lyric video. I love the pop-up book style. Such whimsy.

    .

Michelle Criber is the voice of Apple Bloom and the singing voice of Sweetie Belle. She is an awesome singer. She has covered the 1964 classic "Boy From New York City" (original by the Ad-Libs). One of her fans created a PMV of her version of the song. This is a song I would have played as an Internet DJ if I was still doing that. My listeners would have loved it big time.

Over time I will continue to share my favorites. Hope y'all liked them as much as I do.
  6. There are two shows that I am a big fan of, How I Met Your Mother, and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Both shows couldn't be much more different than each other. HIMYM is an edgy sit-com and MLP:FIM is a cartoon that is aimed at little girls to sell them pony toys. Despite the differences, I have come to love each show for the exact same reason.

A close friend of mine introduced me to HIMYM back in August of 2010. I sat down and watched four episodes with him. I could not get enough. I'm usually not into an edgy comedy like that but the characters and the story that was being told reeled me in. After catching up with the series I am still hooked. The show is really funny but it is the heart of the show that keeps me engaged.

I was formally introduced to MLP:FIM a few months ago thanks to fan-made videos. Than I started watching the series on Youtube to catch up. What struck me right away was how bright and colorful the series is. Being legally blind I can see bright and colorful things better than I can see darker things. The humor and the pop culture references are awesome. I love the music and the characters are so well-developed. But, again it is the heart and soul of the show that has kept me at the table.

And that is why both an edgy comedy, and a cartoon designed to sell pony toys to little girls have won my heart.
  7. "No one will stone anyone until I blow this whistle!" - Monty Python

Wait for the whistle before you throw stuff at me. LOL

In my relatively short time in this fandom I have found that there are a ton of people that are boiled over by even the thought of Twilight becoming an Alicorn (getting Pegasus wings). I'm having trouble finding anything wrong with that. Doesn't it make sense?

I mean If Twilight is under the training of Princess Celestia (and maybe Luna...based on the final scene from The Crystal Empire episode) perhaps she is being trained to be a successor? She is also now in royal line, due to her brother's marriage (boy that was such an awesome episode).

Okay...I am rambling...Twilight is being trained for a reason. We may not know what for yet but if she is to become someone on the scale of Celestia & Luna...it only makes sense that she ultimately becomes an Alicorn as well.

Okay. I am blowing the whistle. You may now start throwing stuff at me...or blowing holes in my logic.
  8. First of all I'd like to thank y'all for a warm welcome to Everypony.com Really great place. I look forward to lots of fun here.

In a discussion thread yesterday I said that it was a hard decision but I had to say Pinkie Pie is my favorite. In doing so I said that we share some of the same personality traits. I am very outgoing and love to make people smile. The other thing we share in common is our love for celebrations - especially Birthdays.

Yeah I am one of those "Birthday people." No I'm not a materialistic Birthday person and I won't ever get like Spike did in "Secret of My Excess" - though I suppose if all you've gotten on your Birthday is a book each year and suddenly got a bunch of gifts you would go nuts too. :ahh:

Spending quality time with friends is more important to me on my Birthday than gifts.

Anyway, I know some folks like to avoid their Birthday like the plague. I guess I can understand that somewhat. Here's why to me Birthdays are a big deal.

I was born on September 19th, 1982 at a hospital near Atlanta, Georgia. I was born legally blind, with a bilateral cleft lip & palate, no physical nose on my face (just holes where the nostrils normally go), and multiple birth defects (I like to call them blessings).

I was tested for every disease known to mankind back then. Despite every one of those tests coming out negative, my doctors told my parents I would not live past six weeks. If I did live past that point they said I'd be a "Vegetable." Some vegetable I turned out to be! :)

After a month in the hospital I was discharged to go home to my family for the first time. However it wasn't very long until I was rushed back there. Almost two months after I was born I developed pneumonia. With as many challenges as I faced this was not good at all. Unfortunately things got worse.

Once I was rushed to the hospital, my heart failed, and my skin started turning blue due to lack of oxygen. I was rushed to ICU. Just after Thanksgiving, I underwent emergency surgery that saved my life. It was the first of 18+ surgeries I have had in my lifetime (during several of them my nose was constructed from bone graphs).

Every day to me is a new gift. It's like Christmas morning everyday. but if I ever need a reminder all I have to do is turn my right wrist. There is a scar there where an emergency IV was stuck because they could not find a vein. The scar is a living, breathing reminder of how much I am blessed and how precious life is.

So each year my Birthday is a big deal. It signifies that I have beaten the very long odds set for me when I was born another full year.

I wish more people would not take their Birthdays for granted...or treat them like a skin disease to be avoided at all costs. Birthdays are blessings and life is a gift. You never are guaranteed another one. It's a day worth celebrating! That's why I connect so well with Pinkie Pie.

"...And that's how Equestria was made!" ROFL :)
