Finn glared at the boy. He owed a great deal to the Church. The monks that raised him had taught him to read and write, and had shown him the importance of kindness and faith in difficult times. Regardless of how anyone felt about it, the Church was by far the most powerful organization in Europe. If anyone had the resources to fight the Atlanteans, it would be Rome.
The Atlantians kept arriving in Lisbon by the thousands, making a direct attack on them virtually impossible. Europe had 3 weeks to prepare a defense against the superhumans across the seas. If they were successful, they might have actually had a chance to put up a fight against the invaders. If not however, and if the slightest crack in the defenses was exposed within their defenses, Europe as the world knew it, a gigantic playground of nations and different cultures would cease to exist. There would be only Pax Atlantiea...
